About Me

I'm an archaeologist finishing up my masters thesis on the pre-Classic Maya in Guatemala. In a previous life I went to NYU film school and spent a couple of years in the Hollywood trenches working for B-movie impresario Roger Corman. Right now I'm working for a non-profit organization in the field of arts conservation, although my highest aspiration is to be a Pussycat Doll. I love to laugh until my sides ache. I love to curl up under my mother's afghan on a cold, wet day and read a good book. I love to fall asleep to the sound of a rainstorm. I love to sit at my laptop in the morning with a huge mug of hot coffee and a chocolate croissant (and if that follows an early jog on the beach and a hot shower, even better). I love pine trees and log cabins but I also love sailboats and the ocean. Girly Myspace Layouts

My Interests

Horses, movies, reading, archaeology, history, my MP3 player, traveling, camping, hiking, biking, fencing, running (slowly!), beagles, pumpkins, snowglobes, dolls and dollmaking, puppetry, cocktail parties, Halloween, Christmas, crocheting, drawing & painting. And I’m open to trying anything new that doesn’t hurt me or others—at least not permanently!

I'd like to meet:

Aaron Sorkin, Shakespeare, Emma Thompson, Kevin Smith, Peter Jackson, John Adams (the dead President, not the composer), John Quincy Adams, Leonardo DaVinci, my grandmothers (both died before I was born), Michaelangelo, J.R.R. Tolkein, Jane Austen, Benjamin Franklin, Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth I, Claudius, Eddie Izzard, Trixie Koontz....and anyone with an open mind and a big heart who pushes my boundaries and challenges me to be a better person.

Music:

I appreciate everything from Big Band to reggae to high baroque classical but here’s a sample of my faves, in no particular order: The Beatles, Rachael Yamagata, Nine Inch Nails, Venice, Sting, The Police, Cheap Trick, Madonna, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Billy Holiday, Etta James, Brian Setzer, Bare Naked Ladies, Billy Joel, Linda Ronstadt, Billy Idol, Enya, Glenn Miller, Annie Lennox, Danny Elfman, John Williams, Frank Sinatra, Beck, Aimee Mann, Fiona Apple, The Clash, Kanye West, Foo Fighters, Norah Jones, Fleetwood Mac, Simon and Garfunkel, Queen, KC & The Sunshine Band, The Chieftains, Kate Bush, Blondie, Patsy Cline, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Bonnie Raitt, Eminem, Adam Ant, Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews Band, Barry Manilow, Bobby Darin, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Dead Can Dance, Don McLean, John Mayer, Josh Grobin, Madeleine Peyroux, Maroon 5, Peter Gabriel, Gavin DeGraw, Sara McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, B-52s, U2, Tom Petty and numerous classical composers such as Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Holst, Haydyn, Chopin, Strauss, Ravel, Wagner, Mozart, Mahler, Tchaikovsky, etc...

Movies:

I love movies (ex-film school student here) and though I'm no longer in the business, I live vicariously through numerous friends and loved ones who are. The films I love are too numerous to mention but I am a big Star Wars and Indiana Jones fan, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy gets the heaviest play on my DVD player. The Sound of Music is the very first movie I remember seeing as a child so it holds a special place in my heart.

Television:

Recent: CNN, almost anything on Animal Planet or the Travel Channel, Heroes, Deadwood, Nip/Tuck, The Sopranos, Rescue Me, Battlestar Galactica (new and old), Grey’s Anatomy, The West Wing, Lost, My Name is Earl, Family Guy, Smallville, Gilmore Girls, South Park, Project Runway Older: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Star Trek, Miami Vice, Mad About You, Seinfeld, NYPD Blue, X-Files, Friends, Kolchek: The Nightstalker, Dark Shadows, MASH, Mary Tyler Moore, Northern Exposure, My So-Called Life, Masterpiece Theatre

Books:

Graduate school accounts for most of my reading these days, but favorite books and authors include: Jane Austen (Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion), Lord of the Rings, Stephen King (The Stand is, I think, his masterpiece), Harry Potter books, Frank Miller, You'll Never Eat Lunch in this Town Again, Reading Lolita in Tehran, Cold Comfort Farm, Possession, Interview with the Vampire, archaeology, history, craft and cookbooks....I could go on but I'm too lazy to get off my butt and look at my bookshelf.

Heroes:

My mother.

Morning in Maui

Arrived in Maui safe and sound.  Rented the Mustang convertible about 20 minutes before it started raining!  The air is silky and smells faintly of perfume and we've got the hottest innkeepe...

Song, etc.

In honor of The Police reunion at the Grammy's (which I missed seeing, dammit), I've changed my song profile.  They performed "Roxanne" but I like "Every Breath You Take" better. Not much else to...

My love/hate relationship with the film business

I recently made another brief foray into the film business, working on Thunder's indie zombie film.  Other than the 6am call times and long hours, it's been a great experience.  I forgot how...

My First Blog Entry

I'm not longer a blog virgin.  Woo hoo.  So, what does "morose" mean anyway?  Probably a combo of sad and angry with a dose of lethargic. "Every time we start thinking we're the center ...
