Awarded the diploma in composition at the Conservatorio G.Verdi in Milan with Azio Corghi, and continued his studies with Luciano Berio.
In 1982 he receives a scholarship to the Tanglewood Festival (USA).
His creative career began with several chamber and orchestral compositions, which were quickly performed by the most important international musical institutions including the Teatro alla Scala, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Tanglewood Festival, the Lincoln Center, the Queen Elisabeth Hall, the Center for Performing Arts in Los Angeles, etc.
In the mid-eighties he began a search for a freer and more personal musical language and his music gained a new immeadiacy and emotional charge.
First exploring this in a successful series of dance and multimedia works, he then started performing with the piano and with his own ensemble.
