HBO Def Poet/Motivational Speaker/Author Redstorm is to poetry what John the Baptist was to Jesus, a purifier. He is a lyrical current that can electrify an audience of any magnitude. His street philosophy has the potential to redeem, recover and resurrect a movement. Redstorm was named Darren Redmond at birth and was raised by good-god-fearing grandparents with morals. Born and raised on the Eastside of Chicago, 79th Street, where he still resides and attended Horace Mann Elementary and South Shore High School. Many wonder how did such a gifted writer that comes from a solid foundation end up in prison. Well, Redstorm simply chose to run the gritty Chicago streets and became involved with gangs and drugs at an early age leading to thirteen years imprisonment. In November 2000, Grandma died, while he was incarcerated. Released from prison in July 2002 without any support system he began his journey to expose the street life for what he refers to as A bunch of lost souls... by writing poetry and inspirational prose that was inspired during the bad times. This collection has lead to EbonyEnergy Publishing, Inc. An imprint of The GEM Group releasing Redstorms first book called "Finders of Lost Souls" that will be available September 2004 and can be found at Border Books Nationwide via ISBN: 0-9755092-2-5. Redstorm has been writing poetry since his first bout with being isolated from society in 1989 and has been on the open mic scene performing his work since 2002. He is a social theorist skilled at delivering his experiences with passion and zeale potential to redeem, recover and resurrect a movement.

Another disaster More questions about what happened? Look how you acting Theyre Americans aint they? But your lack of concern seem blatant You know New Orleans needs help so why you waiting? Four days later, if you would've showed up in NY, Four days later,you would've got your walking papers, Four days later On TV talking about looting and raping Talking about shooting these people for what they taking You're insensitive and racist Plain wrong so let's face this, people dying, starving and crying You on TV lying about how you trying, pro athletes doing more than you Cater to then sheiks is all you do, commander in chief I smell something and it reeks We aint refugees, Americans are in need, They bleed like you bleed Still can't find Osama Call the Army back find that black girls Mama, All them troops over there when American people got problems, We got drama, we need food, you on CNN only helps you When Katrina ends it only helps you, Getting paid off gas! prices, When black bodies laying dead lifeless, And you want us to trust you despite this, I believe you're smiling and you like this, That's why I give it to you straight like this, a freedom fighters Thats why I fight straight like this, Chicago rider That's why I ride straight like this Martin would like this another prophet That's why you frightened And that's why I keep writing STRAIGHT LIKE THIS!!!!!

Redâ€™s old-school spoken-word style is real and has been coupled with fresh and new street tales. He has been taking the poetry scene like a storm.
