Jerrold L. Anderson Jr., a.k.a. Just Flo was born on the South Side of Chicago, Il, Nov. 6, 1979. His music is a mixture of soulful, quick-witted lyrics, creative humor, R&B, and spoken word. After dominating open mic performances in Chicago, Atlanta, D.C., New York, Michigan, Nashville and Texas, he was known for his pronounced voice and stage presence. Getting discovered would show to be a patient process, so he added, full-time graphic designer, to his arsenal. His work would prove credible during a near signing with a Roc-A-Fella sub-label. One of the R-O-Cs own compared his style to none other than Jay-Z himself.
With the goal in mind of becoming a true hip-hop entrepreneur, Just Flo formed JustFM Entertainment; an acronym which stands for Justice Under Simple Terms For the Masses. In addition to writing and arranging his own music, this left hand wordsmith designed his company logo, album covers and clothing line----single-handedly! His soon to be released debut album Versatyle Chylde is a fluid blend of neo-soul rap from every angle imaginable. And as the artists name suggests---it all just flows. You will hear many voice ranges throughout the album as well, all intended to reach you from different emotions. Already in its final steps of completion, look for this album to display not only his lyrically unique delivery and catchy rhythms over powerhouse beats---but also his illustration and graphic design talents on the album cover.
His journey started at St. Dorothys Parish, his grammar school and church. A 10 year old, speaking simple words of love to the woman who gave him life, literally moved the crowd. In that same church were the beginning steps of a natural born renaissance man. Teachers were strict because, even though he was good in all subjects, he was a bit of a class clown. In fact, from about fourth grade, right through freshman year high school, just about every teacher said hed be a great student if he didnt draw and talk so much. After an attitude adjustment in 94, the footsteps of greatness, became deeper imbedded in his path. As a sophomore, he performed at Simeon Career Academys Homecoming party with a local radio station. Already playing football, running track, and wrestling, he became notarized throughout school as Mr. Do-it-all! Junior Year, at the pep rally, while the football team is lined up in front of the entire school, number 80, wide receiver, Jerry A. walks out and delivers a flow that sends the crowd wild! After rapping everyday senior year, his class not only let him sing at graduation, but also noted him as most versatile for his senior class.
During his 3.5 years of college at Northern Illinois University, he studied Visual Communications/Graphic Design and Illustration. His popularity also helped his small sketch art business, cleverly named, Portraits from the Heart, get off the ground. His artistic hustle & flow was key when he landed a job in 2001 back in Chicago, as Illustrator and Graphic Designer for what is now called Image 1 Marketing. Yet after two years, his hunger grew deeper. Leaving a steady job in search of a more lucrative career, he took the best of his music and all his design skills to Atlanta, GA. Ending 2003, as fate would have it, a new friend in Atlanta, who was originally from New York, connected him with a couple of Universal interns back in the Big Apple. Instantly loving his music, they sent him a plane ticket. For the first 3 months of 2004, he performed open mics every other day throughout the Five Boroughs. Returning home in April, he kept his team in JustFM apparel and produced artwork for other small labels, to make sure he was remembered at performances. All it took was one phone call from the Roc La Familia to send family, friends and fans alike, into a frenzy. As irony would have it, the joint venture never took flight. Inevitably, he is still independent and daily building momentum. Keeping keen focus geared toward a major distribution label, Just Flo is poised to be the prodigal son of Hip Hop.
The message is clear: J.ustice U.nder S.imple T.erms F.or the M.asses! Simply put! Feeling the world will one day see his vision of inner strength, peace and faith in the face of adversity---especially in the wake of misunderstood wars, and unpredictable disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina---He prays for the moment to show, we are all living greatness!
