About Me

THE BAND chris wern - vocals/bass mike nuget - guitar/backing vocals rocco - guitar rich moscatelli- drumsSHIVER was started about seven years ago during the spring of 1996 by founding band member Chris Wern. He was then joined by his brother to take a seat behind the drums. But they needed a bass player to complete the trio he was looking for. He turned to Mike Nuget, who he knew through mutual friends. At the time, Nuget’s former band had just broken up, so it worked out great.Around 1998, for about a year Shiver had kinda broken up. Everyone was just doing their own things for a while. Once they came back together The band started writing some more originals, but realized something was missing. That’s when they asked Rocco to come aboard. This was also when Nuget was itching to make the switch from bass to guitar and Chris said he didn't mind taking over the unfilled position. Rocco and Nuget had been friends throughout high school and had also previously played together. They decided that his raw guitar playing would be a great addition. So Rocco was added to the lineup and the Shiver sound was now in the process of becoming what it is today. After parting from there recent drummer, Shiver was not ready to stop the momentum they were building, so for about a month they were on the search for someone new. Rich came down for a tryout practice and two days later was playing his first show. Since then, Shiver have been writing new material and continue to play shows on a constant basis.Shiver then started playing local gigs around the LI area and if you are at all familiar with the LI music scene for original bands, then you already know how small it is. Anyway, they played a few shows and did some 4-track recording on their own while also producing some studio demos. Some of the shows that Shiver has played in the past were CBGB's, The Village Pub, Mulcahy's Pub, The Downtown, Da Funky Phish, Bald Hill, Sgt. Peppers, Mr. Beery's, and many others. In November of 2002, Shiver went into the studio to record their first 7-Song EP entitled “The Way We Are”. From start to finish it is the very melodic and diverse sound that best sums up what they are about. "The Way We Are" has been receiving great responses by it's listener including reviews by Good Times Magazine, New York Rock Street Beat, Powerpill Productions, and more. Citing things like......"Shiver scores high in melody, musicianship, and heart. They are a formidable presence to reckon with."...."straight-ahead rock, with a good sense of melody"......and......"With each listen of Shiver, one's faith in upbeat and lifting music is slaked."For the past year Shiver has been playing more frequently around the Island. While also making appearances on local radio stations and playing gigs about once a week there fan base has been growing ever since. The Shiver sound can be classified within the ranges of Rock/Punk/Alt all rolled up into one original sound that makes them who they are. With influences such as Nirvana, Radiohead, Oasis, and the Rolling Stones, Shiver managed to put their musical personalities and preferences together and come up with something that is all their own.
