About Me

At 20 years old, Nicholas Myers is one in a pack of the next generation of up-and-coming saxophonists in the New York music scene. Ever since moving to the Big Apple, Nick has plugged in to the fast-paced musical environment. Everyone that listens to him agrees that there is something special about the raw passion that exhibited in his music. There is something fiery in his style that can't wait to get out. Nick started his musical journey in Washington State where he began playing the piano at age 5 and then took up the study of the alto saxophone at 11. He started his first band at age 14 and has been leading gigs and recordings ever since. Upon receiving his first tenor saxophone at age 16, Nick realized there were other voices in the world of music and has since then taken up the flute, clarinet, and soprano sax. Since moving to New York in 2005 and attending New York University, Nick has had the opportunity to work and study with some of the finest musicians in the world. George Garzone, Ralph Lalama, Ralph Alessi, Brian Lynch, and Jean-Michel Pilc, and Richard Bona have all contributed to Nick’s development as a musician. Nick is part of a new generation of musicians raised in today's very complex and rich world of music. Steeped in the jazz tradition, Nick also mantains his modern edge by keeping up with the fast paced genres of popular music. Be it funky stuff, R & B, Latin, avante-garde, or straight ahead, Nick is an open-minded and versatile musician who is always ready to add his voice to any musical situation.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
