About Me

Pharmacist Chris is a name that came about because I'm always in the studio aka the lab and people always say my shit's dope. People would always tell me they're "hurtin' for some beats" -so I would give them a cure. I wanted a street name that wasn't to over the top and plus I wanted to rep who I was by including part of my real name. Thus, Pharmacist Chris. People assume I'm slangin' because I got pills all over my page. I don't hustle product, just music. I've got to much to loose. My gig is makin beats but i been known to lay a verse every now and again... I've been writing, creating and performing for more than a decade and have established a reputation within the underground music subculture. I have played at various established venues including the Vans warp tour. I have performed with acts ranging from Jurasic 5, The Sugar Hill Gang, and Potluck to Papa Roach, Long Beach Dub Allstars, and NOFX. I've created two underground cd's and distribute instrumental music to emcees and DJ's all across the nation. Although my focus is creating music for hip hop emcees, I'm always looking to branch out into other medias in need of instrumental music such as, but not limited to, film, television, video games, and internet websites and I'm always seeking companies who are in need of music for such medias. My style ranges from trancy melodic space tunes to groovy funk induced slap music. All music is originally written and composed with a trademark sound that is smooth, yet edgy. I'm currently a member of the beat label Lostkoast Productions which is comprised of El Hefe from NOFX, UnderRated of Potluck, and myself: Pharmacist Chris. I work closely with Potluck out of Humboldt: long time friends both musically and personally. For information about purchasing a beat please contact me directly or visit the Potluck page and contact 1 ton.

Influences: * CLASSICAL PIANO - I started as a kid playing piano. It all changed when my dad got a Yamaha psr520 keyboard. I started making wanna-be beats using the drum tracks already in the keyboard and copied noises and melodies from bay area rap songs from artis like Too Short, E40, and RBL Posse.* OLD SCHOOL HIP HOP- I grew up in the suburbs, but my older brother was listening to Whodini, Run DMC, and LL Cool J when I was just a little runt. Then one day I saw this group on TV rappin' that looked just me... white boys. Yes, the Beastie Boys. To this day they are my favorite rap group and still have heavy influence on me.* VIDEO GAME SOUNDTRACKS-I have put a lot of hours into gaming. I still play video games, but growing up I was on that Nintendo like Pooky was on the pipe. I would go to sleep at night and hear the theme to Super Mario Bro.s in my head.* POP DOGG -Growing up there was always music in my house. My dad is a song writer and he was always playing piano, guitar, accordian, his mouth... whatever. He was my first experience with music and has paved the way for me. I try to be original but I'll admit I've bit from my pops.* ART -Anyone who knows me knows I love art of all kinds. I'm a left brained individual and I am always engulfing myself with creativity.I'm also inspired by ass tricks
