JR TRAP is the name, a songwriter/rapper/producer hailing from the cold streets of MINOT, NORTH DAKOTA. Originally born in MERCED, CALIFORNIA, TRAP has lived in Italy and Germany as well. As early as age 9 TRAP has been enfactuated by music, starting off by playing the recorder, clarinet, eventually moving onto drums, then guitar, and finally the deadliest weapon in the arsenal, the synthesizer. It wasn't until 2006 that TRAP began putting ideas together to create tracks. The first three tracks that were recorded were influenced by a mind blowing experience the previous night. JR TRAP and his original partner in crime, DJ MERC, put together the first demo CD entitled "What's the Word?" Due to the lack of proper recording equipment and environment the CD remained a demo.
At the beginning of 2007 TRAP invested more money into studio equipment and began cranking out beat after beat after beat... TRAP and MERC released 2 separate demo CD's under the name "HYBRID DIVISON". The CD's were entitled "HD : The Mixtape" and " HD : Nocturnal Situation". Once again lacking the proper recording environment the CDs remained demos. At this point DJ MERC was on a trucking route spanning from North Dakota to the whole east coast. After ghetto rigging a ton of CDs, DJ MERC began fluctuating the CDs to whoever, whenever, wherever. Here in Minot TRAP established a relationship at KLIX and they began handing out our FREE demo CDs, just spreading the word.
During April of 2007 JR TRAP and DJ MERC got in contact with BULLET, from BULLET MUZIK. Earlier in 2006 they met him when he was in Minot promoting his music. TRAP and MERC then drove down to Salt Lake City, Utah to meet up with BULLET. Upon arriving there they helped BULLET sell his CDs and arranged a studio agreement. They were going to have their first full length CD released under the "Bullet Presents" label. After a brief week or so TRAP and MERC headed back to Minot to collect funds for the deal. Unfortunately upon arrival, things did not go as planned. The deal eventually went sour and once again they roamed as independent artists.
After the Bullet escapade, TRAP was mind set on producing and creating professional style music in HIS OWN STUDIO, without having to pay studio costs, blah blah blah. After stacking cash for the most part of the month, a new MIC, that was in fact professional quality (not a USB MIC), a new mixer, a new synth program, a new synthesizer, and soundproofing material were purchased. After the "Underground Lair" was set up, TRAP was hell bent on manufacturing beats like crack....highly potent and very addictive. With the set up of the MIC and the soundproofing material, the vocals were now finally semi-professional quality.
Currently JR TRAP is working full throttle on a full length album entitled "DISOLVE AND CREATE" which will feature UNHEARD and a few other artists. The CD is 40% in the making. With all the work put into this CD, expect it to sound like nothing that TRAP has released before. Keep posted...more news soon...this shits about ta DROP MANE.
