ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Ashley, and I am singer/songwriter. From a very early age, I have been aware of my passion for the arts and my dreams for the future. I feel so blessed to be given the talent, and the support to do what I love.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
I have always loved music. When I was a baby I used to dance and sing to the music that my parents played in the house. Whether in the car or in the bathtub, there was never a moment when I wasnt humming a tune, or dancing in circles singing the good old Disney songs. At the age of seven, I definitely knew I wanted to sing. I remember taking piano lessons, yet wanting to sing more than play! Soon after, I started to perform at recitals, Barnes & Noble, and also began to audition for community theatre. My first role was Ariel in The Little Mermaid.
Singing became much less of an after-school activity towards the end of eighth grade and the summer before freshman year. I began taking vocal lessons at the age of 13, singing everywhere possible, and by sophomore year, I began publicly singing in Manhattan. Over the past several years I have been auditioning, performing private and public showcases, as well as recording, writing, and producing. I have directed both the band and background vocalists in Manhattan showcases, and am constantly writing and creating music.
I have been involved in several competitions over the years as well. I was a finalist in CBS Star Search competition, as well as a chosen finalist in CBS Americas Most Talented Kids (show was cancelled before I was given chance to perform LIVE), as well as some other local competitions. I was awarded the title New Jersey Icon Grand Champion 2005 after a summer long competition. Also, I have performed on the world famous Apollo Theater stage in Harlem, NY, on both the "Amateur Night" show, and the televised "Showtime at the Apollo".
WHAT I DO
I feel, that in order to be respected as a true artist in the industry today, you have to take part in all aspects of a project. I am a firm believer in being involved in as much as possible to foster a connection with my music. From lyrics and musical composition, to recording and singing, to producing and directing, I want to do it all!! I intend to be much more than just a singer. I need to be a musician and an artist who knows what I am doing, and can handle any situation thrown at me with professionalism.
I understand that the business may be glamorous on the outside, but is also extremely grueling and cutthroat. It is no longer about the flavor of the month (or year), but the focus has shifted more towards the flavor of the day, or possibly even the minute. Because of this, I feel that, as a dedicated, driven artist, I have to constantly reinvent and prove myself to the world and the industry, evolving to every challenge that will be thrown in my way. :o)
MY HOPES AND DREAMS
I want to be a superstar! :o) I want to grace the greatest stages in the world, win a Grammy (and an Oscar, and a Tony!). Music is, and will always be my passion. I look forward to a hopefully successful career in the entertainment business, and hope to sign a record deal in the near future.
I thank God every day for what He has given me, and I know that with Faith, all things are possible. My dream has always been to put my stamp on the music and entertainment industry. Yes, I confess, I want to walk the red carpet as a glamorous superstar, but on a deeper level, I want to affect the world and the people with my music.
If I am to help one person get through a tough situation, put a smile on someones face, or bring hope to the underprivileged in the world, that, to me, is success.
