D Rod has been making beats ever since he can remember. Besides family and friends, it's the only other thing that has been a constant in his life. He often laughs when he thinks back to his first drum machine.......his toes! He remembers so vividly playing "Heart Beat" on his toes for his friends, however, they no longer crack (lol). While attending Howard University, D Rod was heavily into rocking the mic along with a close friend. He recalls "all I did was write rhymes.....I couldn't even sleep some nights if I didn't pen something". D Rod stopped attending H.U. because he didn't find his courses of study challenging enough to keep his attention at that point in his life. So, he returned to L.I. and purchased his first professional piece of equipment.....the ASR 10. Over the years D Rod has continued to invest in his home studio, which he refers to as "simple but complex". He just recently completed an audio engineering program on Long Island, and said "it only helped me appreciate what I already had". D Rod considers himself a late bloomer in this field, but he's not worried because he believes everyone has their time to shine. He adds "I've just been mastering the art........getting that signal flow tight.......it's like soil, and I just been adding fertilizer all these years and now it's ready to grow".
