Mahogany's energy electrifies a room with the emotional honesty of her lyrics and sultry vocal delivery. The disciplined fury of her acoustic guitar, and her charming wit and humorous sarcasm has shocked and enlightened listeners and helped her win over one audience after another with genuine grace. Born to a Spanish father and Argentine mother, Mahogany spent her early years in Queens, NY. Raised into the emergence of a new hip-hop era, Mahogany wrote her first rap at age 10 and by age 16 she quickly began performing throughout the growing hip-hop circuit in Miami. It was there that Mahogany began gaining recognition for her distinctively cutting rhymes and began fusing them together with self-taught acoustic guitar and bass grooves to produce a sound unparalleled on the local music scene. Now back in New York City, Mahogany is currently hard at work on her full length LP titled "Christopher". With contributions from legendary drummer Cindy Blackman (Lenny Kravitz) and bassist Jason Mercer (Ani DiFranco, Ron Sexsmith) & cellist Jane Scarpantoni (Indigo Girls, Nirvana), this album promises to delight both listeners and critics. Also featured are veteran musicians Sonia Roberts (drums), Alex Papandopolus Pequeno (lead guitar), Edwin Alvarado (bass) and Karen Satterwaithe (cello), who contribute the live flare that fans can't get enough of.
Mahogany is fierce but isn't afraid to show her vulnerability. To watch her perform, whether playing an intimate club or an outdoor festival, is an incredible experience. Throughout the last decade, Mahogany has been a troubadour of live performances. Her self-released debut EP, Roadkill, was recorded live at the legendary Churchill's Pub in Miami, FL and is a testament to the raw strength and uplifting power of her performances.
Whether you're into Hip-Hop or if you're into folk, Mahogany is a performer who has created the
perfect hybrid and the result is a hip, fresh and new sound that's crying out to be heard.
