I am here for Dating, Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm new to MySpace so go easy on me! I'm very shy. I am a thirty-six year old Celtic single gay male living in New York City. I am an award-winning freelance writer with a concentration on the independent music and cultural scene in New York City. Also, I have a professional "real" job that pays the bills but we won't get into that right now (LOL)... I do volunteer work for several organizations whose causes I believe in-- including AIDS/HIV awareness, equality for GLBT people, promotion of GLBT music and arts, and animal rights. My volunteer work gives me the most pleasure of all. My M.O. is to one day have everyone look at other people without sanctimonious judgement or prejudice based on our differences. If that sounds politically correct or lame to you, oh well-- that's the way I really feel. But on to lighter stuff: I'm always lookin' for new experiences and thrills. See more at www.JedRyan.com

My Interests

I am an animal lover and animal rights activist. If you don't like animals you can't be my friend. Currently I am concentrating my efforts on saving America's black-footed ferret and I need help with that! If you are involved with that let me know! Also love live music (My preferences lean towards independent rather than major label), movies, off Broadway theater, clubbing, sex, road trips, and any events to raise money or awareness for GLBT- or animal-rights causes.

I'd like to meet:

Looking for male and female friends with like-minded interests who share the same core beliefs that I believe in, for friendship and networking. And...I am always looking to meet independent-minded, sexually/physically uninhibited fun guys for fun times. You know what I mean. Not currently looking for a LTR but hey, you never know. You got issues, I got issues--if we are willing to work out our issues together and are both willing to compromise and work at it, why not?

Music:

Will listen to anything but primarily I like modern and classic dance music, '80's pop, early '90's grunge/rock, nu metal (Korn, Marilyn Manson, NIN, Rob Zombie),and stripped-down live guitar-and-vocals performances. My favorite band of all time was The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black before they went on hiatus... Current fave musicians: Nekked, Terry Christopher, Morry Campbell, John Raymond Pollard, Jon Manion, Mary Edwards, Rubberlegs, Robert Urban, R.U.B., Frank Grimaldi, Telling on Trixie, *V*I*R*G*O*, Jayne County, Rachael Sage,Buddy, Ekayani & the Healing Band,Bell the Cat,Nedra Johnson, the Village People, Randy Jones, Will Grega, and Scott Free... Right now I'm listening to: "American Idle" by Em Pulse,Marilyn Manson's "Eat Me Drink Me", Storybox' "No Dancing Allowed",Hypofixx' "After December", "Her Journey" by Kherish, & John Raymond Pollard's "Character"

Movies:

Favorite movies of all time: "Mommie Dearest", "Sextette" with Mae West, "Mahogany", "Showgirls","Can't Stop the Music", "Dinah East", and other camp classics. Luv classic (not modern!)horror, all movies from the '70's, and anything by John Waters and Pedro Almodovar. Also LOVE biopics and documentaries. To relax the mind I'll watch some stupid movie patently designed for 14-year old boys like "Meet the Spartans", "I Now Pronouce You Chuck and Larry", or "Knocked Up"...

Television:

I don't watch TV and don't have cable or satellite. I only have one for background noise while I'm doing housework. If that's a turnoff for you, sorry.

Books:

"The Wicca Handbook" and "A Witches' Bible" are my staples. Other than that, Damn! Don't have the attention span to sit down and read books. The last books I read cover to cover was "Ordeal" by Linda Lovelace, "How to Make Love Like a Porn Star" by Jenna Jameson, and "Underneath It All" by Traci Lords. I am a gay boy that's fascinated by straight porn. What can I say?

Heroes:

My father was the coolest, kindest, least prejudiced, funniest, most non-judgemental, most supportive, most fun person I ever knew! I miss you, Dad!(Sorry for sounding so schmaltzy about it...)
