About Me

Layout Created at KillerKiwi.net

With his "ear to the ground, listening for a sound," Freddy Freeman shares what he hears with his audience and his fellow musicians. His sound is filled with warmth, honesty, and soul, but knows no genre, mixing Country, Rock, Folk, and R&B influences into a rich stew of American Pop Music. After developing his sound in New York, both solo and with a band, he created Bearapalooza, a showcase of musicians of the Bear community, which has done succesful festivals in NY, Philly, Seattle, and Nashville, as well as Q-nity, a showcase of diverse queer artists. Now living in Nashville TN, Freddy has brought Bearapalooza, Qnity, and an Outmusic Open Mic to Music City USA

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: **Freddy Freeman - Vocals, Acoustic Guitars, Piano and Programming** **Jay Freeman - Co-Production and Backup Vocals on Free Man** **Joe Cavallo - Electric Guitars** **Toshio Mana - Keyboards and additional Arrangment and Production** **Max Christopher - Bass** **Mike Fass - Drums** **Robert Darden - Backup Vocals on Free Man**
Influences: My influences are varied and many, some of which I'm sure are unconcious. Some of the ones I am concious of are Joni Mitchell, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, Indigo Girls, George Michael, 40's Big Band, Bjork, David Wilcox. There is lots of infleunce just from stuff I heard on the radio as a kid from ABBA to ELO, Patsy Cline, to cheesy hair bands like Europe, Queen, Lionel Ritchie, and the Soundtracks to Grease and the Jazz Singer. In the 80's I was crazy about Hall & Oates, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, and just like every other 14 year old kid, Michael Jackson. There are a number of independent artists (many of whom are on myspace) making music right now who inspire me and who I have come to greatly admire. Namoli Brenett, Ron Morris, Rachael Sage, *V*I*R*G*O*, Kendall, Elijah Black, Yolanda, Andy Northrup. There are so many more. I am influenced by whatever moves me. I am being influenced right now by Neo-Soul like Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, and India Arie.
Sounds Like: I'm not sure what I sound like. One song can sound like Folk-pop Indigo Girls like fare, while another could be Prince influenced funked up sexy craziness. Another could be straight up bar rock and roll, or country, and yet another could be smooth grooving R&B. All this is connected by an organic sense of who I am. I am a contradiction and filled with complexity and my music reflects that.
