About Me

The Nervous Kind , formed in Erdington Birmingham in 1980.Owen Comaskey Lead Vocal, guitar . Gregg Nicholls Lead guitar, vocals Paul Comaskey Drums, backing vocals. Maurice Woulfe Bass , backing vocals (80-82) Bill Stair Bass , backing vocals (84 -90) MJ Mynarski Piano, keyboards (87-90) Mark Spencer Lead guitar , vocals (87-90) NYWe were with out doubt the best band never to sign a deal with any lable anywhere!!! We opened for or toured with Steve Gibbons, Duran Duran, the beat , ub40 and Dexys. We recorded singles(graduate records) and EP's that were never released (CBS) we relocated to New York in the mid 80's, where ( I swear to god) we made some of the best music you will never here . Band Members: Owen Comaskey,Gregg Nicholls, Paul Comaskey, Bill Stair, Maurice Woulfe, Mark Spencer, MJ Mynarski, Dave Hoatson..... and George Gilmore ....you know who you are. Thank you Jane Timothy for the Holy City Zoo photos, John&Jayne Ramsey and Rob for the Shapes of Things article, and Bill and Doreen for the NY picsIn 1983 the nervous kind split up ,for the first time. Gregg and Owen went to live and work in New York. Maurice went off to get his teaching Degree (very grown up ) and Paul formed a new band ,with two former Hawks (Big time Paul and Simon) and Ted(themusiclover ) from local band DANCE. They signed to Virgin TEN ....and the rest is History......Gregg and Owen returned in 85 , and with the help of Big Bill Stair (Art Objects ,Blue Airplanes ) and Paul back on drums they recorded these 4 songs . With the support of Muff Winwood @ CBS.,and the skills of the brothers Key ...Robin and JonJO
Influences: 13th floor elevators, nuggets, pebbles, flamin groovies, VU, Van Dyke Parks, Scott Walker, Van Morrison,Fairport Convention, Nick Drake, the byrds
