About Me

Eduardo Da silva "Bijoux" Barbosa was born in Sao Paulo - Brasil. Bijoux started Music Theory studies at a very early age with Prof. Nadir Dos Santos Neto. While in Brasil Bijoux played mainly with Jazz Fusion oriented bands, and also some Pop Music, contributing to a large number of original works. In Brasil Bijoux performed with some well known national acts such as Sonia Abreu, Tomas Marsh, BNMC, and his own Jazz Fusion Quartet the well known Quarteto Concreto.Bijoux also participated many recording sessions, and taught at the Bass Institute Of Technology in Brasil from 1989 through 1991. In 1991 Bijoux moved to Caracas-Venezula, and started working with a very popular Brazilian Band called Cafe Brasil. Also in Venezuela Bijoux studied Latin Music, Afro Cuban and Caribbean Rythms. He also had the great honor of studying ContraBass with renowed Prof. Nestor Perez who was Principal at the Orquestra Sinfonica de Cararcas at the time. Bijoux played with many well known National Artists in Venezuela such as Luz Marina, Maria Rivas, Alicia Plaza, and many others. In 1997 Bijoux moved to Denver-Colorado-USA where he works as a freelance Jazz musician. He also participates in Master classes at the Universities in Colorado, and he is one of the top Studio session bassists in the area with over 300 recordings credits in Colorado alone and thousands of hours of recording experience, on both Electric basses and acoustic upright bass. Bijoux Barbosa performed for over 4 years with his own jazz trio in some of the best clubs in Denver-CO. He is also an innovator playing 7 string electric basses, both with frets and fretless. Eduardo "Bijoux" Barbosa has performed at: IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators) Long Beach-California Aruba Jazz Festival Portland-Oregon (Convention Center) Denver-Colorado (Convention Center) JVC Jazz Festival - Winterpark - Colorado Summer Festivals in Colorado: Breckenridge Copper Mountain City Park Jazz-Denver Vail Aspen Colorado Springs Fort Collins Various Festivals in Brasil Various Festivals in Venezuela Also in: Genova-Italy Barcelona-Spain Madeira-Portugal and many Caribbean Islands. Recently opened with one of his recents bands "Petite Machine" for Joshua Redman, has also opened with Mitchell long Quartet for Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Eddie Palmieri. back in the early 90's Bijoux opened with Cafe Brasil for artists such as Candy Dulfer, GRP ALL-STARS, and the Rippingtons in the 1994 Aruba Jazz festival... width="425" height="350" ..

Influences: Bijoux also performs with Excess-3, a Jazz group that features a lot of contemporary Jazz composers and original music as well. Excess-3 was formely known as the Dan Geisler Group. Please check out www.dangeilsergroup.com. Excess-3 plays every Sunday morning at 10:00 at www.citypres.org downtown at the Tivoli building (Auraria Campus).
