About Me

Jon Parker

began playing organ when he was 3. Ever since then, music has been a passion of his, and he's always sought out new ways to perform, jam and record. In 1995, Jon began playing professionally with groups and as a solo artist. From 1995 to 2002 he led his jazz trio, The Jon Parker Trio (JP3), through several live and recorded radio and TV appearances and opened for such acts as the Bob James Trio. In 1997, JP3 released their first CD titled "One Way" that received much airplay on Denver's KUVO jazz radio station.
Upon enlisting in the U.S. Army in 2002, Jon performed with the U.S. Army Bands and was with the 113th Army Band "Dragoons" at Fort Knox until July of 2005 when he was reassigned to the SHAPE International Band in Belgium. For nearly 2 years he toured Europe under the NATO flag spreading jazz and rock and promoting a positive diplomatic relationship between the 26 NATO countries. He frequently performed for the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) GEN James L. Jones, as well as many other international senior military officials, Royalty, heads of state, international Ambassadors, and Senators from all over the world. Recording with the SHAPE Jazz Orchestra, he was involved in the production of a 2 CD tribute to all 26 NATO countries which should be completed sometime in 2007.
In addition to his position with the SHAPE International Band, Jon volunteered his time performing with the SHAPE Entertainment Center's community theatre program in Mons Belgium and was nominated for "Best Keyboard Accompanist" in the 2006 annual Tournament of Plays (TOPPERS) ceremony which was held in April 2006 in Heidelberg, Germany.
Since January, 2007 Jon has been studying Jazz piano and Conducting at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music. Studying under Jazz pianist Eric Gunnison, he has been attempting to uncover his own sound in contemporary music. He recently released a solo piano album which covers works by several great composers from George Gerswhin to Herbie Hancock, the album includes several original compositions by Jon Parker himself.
