I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a music journalist and run a magazine called Renown Magazine. I'm actually the editor in chief, but I just pretend to know what I'm doing. We're currently read by thousands in over ninety-two countries worldwide. We're in the process of dreaming it all up again, so hopefully the monster will be unleashed early 2007.
I've been in the music industry for about six years and the entertainment industry for even longer (I was a video game journalist). From Toronto to Vancouver and L.A. to New York, I work on a regular basis with some of the biggest labels, management companies, and PR companies in the business.
I am regularly quoted in industry press releases, artist websites, retail advertising campaigns, e-cards, and more. In 2005, I was featured in a workshop's media panel during a week-long Canadian music event alongside respected TV, radio, and print organizations. In addition to the internet, you can find my work printed in various newspapers/magazines around North America. Aside from music journalism, I have also done a significant share of artist and industry consulting on the side.
As if my list of jobs and tasks isn't big enough, I am also an A&R Scout for Major Label Scout. We work closely with labels such as Arista / J Records to identify talent.

My Interests

Music, video games, networking, television and film production, the entertainment industry (music, movies, tv, video games), technology, writing, people with a good sense of humor (and who understands mine), pushing myself outside of my own comfort zones, trying to find a way make a difference...

I'd like to meet:

I could say "you," but everyone seems to say that these days... ha.

I'm pretty much open to anyone as I always enjoy meeting new people, especially within the industry. I would also like to think that I'm quite easy to get along with as I love to hang out and have a good time. Hopefully my friends and colleagues think so too. Seriously, if you can't have fun, then what's the point?

I am not particularly a fan of those who are full of themselves though... We're all just people with different jobs in different places. So as long as you aren't the inflated-ego type, we should get along just fine. ;)

Music:

I thoroughly enjoy way too many bands and genres to even begin listing them all. My music collection is in the thousands and still growing... But if you held me at gunpoint to make me talk, I guess some of my top artists right now would be U2, Matchbox Twenty, Rob Thomas, Barenaked Ladies, and The Fray.

I'm also a sucker for Top 40 / 20 material... Christina Aguilera (what a voice!), Nelly Furtado, Gwen Stefani, Daughtry, and P!nk are getting some serious spins as of late too...

Movies:

Like music, I enjoy many movies... The Rocky series, The Man Who Knew Too Little and Ocean's Eleven would be pretty close to the top of my list though. I'm a fan of comedies and action films...

Television:

I don't watch much TV... Just Lost and Heroes primarily. Oh, and cartoons. I love cartoons. Long live Animaniacs and Pinky And The Brain!

Books:

Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi... The Tipping Point and Blink by Malcolm Gladwell... The Future Of Music by David Kusek and Gerd Leonhard... Make It Happen: The Hip-Hop Generation Guide to Success by Kevin Liles...

Heroes:

The person who invented pizza.
