Do we only feel honest and alive when we close our eyes? Is the passion that hides within our sleep more secure and lasting than our daily routines, social status, and mind-numbing reality? What if this dream is all we have? In response to this generation's desperate questions, a humble musician named Jason Soloduik from Oakville, Ontario has risen up with a message of hope.
What If This Dream Is All We Have? is a musical project that is neither a band nor an album title, but, in the words of singer/songwriter Soloduik, it's a concept. "It's about staying in contact with who you are - not just knowing, but believing that there is still good left in the world". Having been a part of the Ontario music scene for 10 years, 23-year-old Soloduik knows the struggles and longings of his audience and hopes his music will get listeners searching themselves and getting excited about their lives.
Having spent three years as the bassist in successful Ontario rock band Fighting the Fall, the Indie-Acoustic-Rock sound is new ground for Soloduik. "Stepping out from playing the bass, and playing the acoustic guitar is definatelysomething I never saw myself doing," Soloduik explains. "I sort of examined the songs and decided that I needed to get this stuff out of me! It was a healing process to express my views, fears and emotions - it felt so right." It also sounds very right. Soloduik's textured voice soars confidently over creative arrangements and strong melodies to create a sound bursting with atmosphere and emotion. Listeners will notice sounds similar to Coldplay and Our Lady Peace with songwriting influences of Blind Melon, Angels and Airwaves and Mae.
Everything started in January 2006, when Soloduik first stepped into the studio with producer jamie k... (of Thousand Foot Krutch) to record a single song. When inspiration started rolling, one song turned into six, and What If This Dream Is All We Have? was born - not only as a musical project, but as a philosophy. "The focus is spreading the music and all the feelings behind it. Music is definately the biggest part of who I am." With such a big heart and his strong conviction to spread this message of hope, Soloduik is poised to do some exciting things, in the Ontario scene and beyond. What if this dream is all we have? You'll find a dream is more than enough.
