D.I.N. has been paying dues for over a decade by playing many fiery, highly energetic and emotional shows in Toronto. Venues include: The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern, The El Mocombo, The Reverb and Free Times Cafe.
The songs on D.I.N.'s recently released debut YOU BURST INTO FIRE AGAIN (REPRISE) 2008 & YOU BURST INTO FIRE AGAIN DinArts 2007, are predominantly acoustic based. The new REPRISE CD features the track Sky (In The Name Of You), which was co-written and produced by Marc Nadjiwan. The song was directly inspired (or instigated!) by a Native No-Uranium blcokade dispute near Ottawa, Ontario. D.I.N. was moved by the commitment of the Native's there to defend their land. The REPRISE version of YBIFA also includes two new acoustic recordings of Coals and a new song, Hey Old Man.
Other songs move away from external issues to internal ones, admitting truth about depression, anxiety and pain. On YBIFA, D.I.N. has taken the risk to uterly expose himself: "Depression and addiction run in my family, and I had a choice to rise above biology and conditioning, and that pubescent sense of being a victim, and to do something about it. I made absolutely sure I solved the problem." Songs like Coals, Desert Star, Sunburst and Pain express this akin to the likes of Wilco, Nirvana and Joy Division. D.I.N. aspires to connect to a new audience of young adults who have similar experiences, as depression is becoming the leading health problem in our modern culture. Not all is dark though, other songs like Stand In The Flames are up-tempo and hopeful in a U2 vein.
After a 5 year odyssey in finding the right fit in players, D.I.N. is now finalizing a new line-up, including Nadjiwan on lead guitar, Paul T on the box and Dave Buland on bass. D.I.N. continues to play almost every night at various open mic’s in Toronto to generate a real street buzz and has also generated over 30 000 song listens on Myspace.com. You can also catch him postering around downtown Toronto at least once a week; a great way to get two birds stoned at once (marketing plus exercise). With the recent US play of the song Sky (In The Name Of You), D.I.N. is hoping to tour the US soon...
