each with their own unique influences that make them a perfect duo. Their vision
in production is to always create music thats one step ahead of the industry to
maintain club and commercial record success.
Master-D’s aspect comes from his knowledge of over 13 years of training
in Indian calssical music, ethnic variety and the fusion of urban music that
give an edge in every music composition by The Bilz. He has created musical
scores with world music influences for independent films that have won
international awards and he continues to deliver the diverse mix in all their
phenomenal hits.
DJ Vicious’ broad notion of how to handle both, the mainstream and South
Asian music industry, growing industry contacts and with 10 years under his belt
along with his immense list of DJ opening sets at clubs around the world and
special guest spots for Funkmaster Flex, Punjabi MC, Apache Indian & Sean Paul
has helped propel "The Bilz" brand even further. Releasing urban and South Asian
mixtapes (Insomnia 1,2,3) with Master-D and selling over 10,000 units
collectively and being named Desiclub’s Top 50 Desis of 2005 with M. Knight
Shamalyan and Raj Bakhtra has made him an important figure in the future of
music.
In 2006, The Bilz released their first debut album featuring their
R&B/Pop artist Kashif and broke barriers in the Canadian music industry with
their smash international singles, 2 Step Bhangra & O Meri Rani(Spanish Fly).
They domniated radio waves by being the most requested song in Toronto and soon
followed across Canada all achieved independently. They’re huge popularity
exploded them as MySpace’s Top 10 Independent Canadian Artists.
The journey continues as the single reached 4 on top 7@7 charts on Z103.5FM in
Toronto for 3 weeks standing one notch above Beyonce and Justin Timberlake, in
addition, blew up spins on BBC Radio 1xtra, Trinidad & Tobago Radio & MTV Tempo.
Furthermore, The Bilz also charted on Billboard Top 100 and Latin R&R for one of
their remixes for an international artist, Chantal Chamandy, and performed
alongside Enrique Iglasius, VengaBoys, 112, Belly & Crystal Waters in front of
17 000 people at Summer Rush 2007.
2 Step Bhangra & Spanish Fly receiving such heavy rotation on mainstream radio
stations, it helped propel the video with over 500,000 views on Youtube, reached
1 on MTV Desi for 3 weeks, received medium rotation on Much Music, Much Vibe &
MTV Canada. Furthermore, The Bilz and Kashif were nominated for 2 Bollywood
Music Awards that took place at the Trump Taj Casino and won " Best Dance Video
of the Year" for their lead single of the album, 2 Step Bhangra.
They recently signed a deal to feature their music in an animated movie EKEH 2.0
with Bollywood stars - Firoz Khan, Fardeen Khan, Gulshan Grover & Rakhi Sawant
slated for summer 2008 and also have two other movies in works set to release in
Fall 2008.
