About Me
Grew up in the South Shore of Long Island and raised by my two parents. Coming from Italian, Spanish and Filipina descent always around different cultures inspired me to not stick with just one sound. I am influenced by many styles, R&B/Soul, Pop, Rock, Blues, Gospel, Hiphop, Jazz, Latin and Reggae. I've been singing since I was a child, remember always listening to my mom playing James Brown and dancing in the living room. She also played Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Earth, Wind And Fire and my dad always playing Frank Sinatra, Sting, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, James Taylor and Luther Vandross to name a few. That really made my taste for so many different styles grow at such a young age. I knew I couldn't let music go and by the time I graduated high school I decided to pursue music full time. I went on numerous singing/modeling auditions in NYC commuting on the LIRR back n forth from LI. I landed an editorial with Seventeen Magazine and I also appeared in a music video for the r&b duo "ParkSlope" for the song "La Dee Da Dee". I also appeared on MTV's Global Grooves Dance Show. Some good and a handful of auditions shot down but that didn't stop me from believing in myself.
I started a Pop/R&B girl group called "Sultry" with 3 other girls from LI in 2000. We practiced all the time and I gained a lot of experience with harmonizing, writing, performing and working creatively with other producers. Pop/R&B Singer/Songwriter/Dancer/Actor Billy Crawford, really helped me discover my talent for songwriting and was a big influence for me to pursue my dream as an artist. He is now a well known artist in France with top selling hits on the Billboard charts. I would always be writing to tracks for producers and constantly working on my craft. Because of differences, the group only lasted for a year. I still continued on and decided to take vocal classes to overcome my weaknesses and train my voice to get stronger. I started training with vocal coach Badiene Magaziner for 1 year and then was referred to Craig Derry/Clurel Henderson by a good producer friend of mine, Jeremy Skaller of The Orange Factory. Celebrity vocal coach Craig Derry, has worked with some of the top selling artists today such as Etta James, Brenda K. Star, Michael Jackson, Marc Anthony, John Legend, D' Angelo, Lil Mo, SWV and Mario Wynans to name a few. Craig's class is a group class which helped me get over my fear of singing in front of people and his vocal aerobic techniques helped build my range and strength. My shyness has disappeared and he really helped boost confidence in myself which is a big part of singing. My voice is growing more and more each day and Im doing things now that I'd never thought I'd be able to 5 yrs. ago! I met a lot of valuable music people in his class which got me a production deal with DJ/Producer Todd Terry. Through the process I worked with talented producer/musicians such as Chino Maurice and Marc Wilson. I learned alot from them and grown as an artist. Because of differences on artist development, I have now moved on my own. I moved to Astoria, NY so I can work on my music full time and to be closer to the BIG NYC! I am thankful to my songwriting friends Brandon Beal, Richie Rivera, Chino Maurice, Kofi Black, Alvarado, Dahlia and Joe Della' Medaglia who have helped me along the way with songwriting. They are very talented songwriters and artists to watch out for!! I continue to work hard, stay focused, driven and dedicated to my love for music. My hunger will never go away until I accomplish many great things. You just have to believe in yourself and good things will happen.I'm looking to make a difference in the music industry and bring real music back to life. Any producers or songwriters that are interested to work with me and make that happen, please don't hesitate to contact me.Comments are much appreciated thank you. Please be patient. Hope you like my music!! ; )Much Luv and Success to all my hardworking fellow Artists/Musicians/Producers/Songwriters
XOXO,Alexandra
