“The name says it all: it's my art,†Myart said of his musical style. “It's something you're going to feel – make you cry, make you happy. It's just me.†Myart’s art became a business three years ago when he became the CEO of Shadow Skills Productions, a Hip-hop production company based out of Brockton, Mass. As an emcee and producer, he keeps his team motivated and true to their mission of producing and distributing quality music from upcoming, talented artists.Myart, familiarly known as Kye Understanding, grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He started rapping in middle school, going to local parties to freestyle and battle emcees. He moved to Massachusetts, in the eighth grade, where he found other relocated inner-city kids, and formed a small group called GraySkull latter to be known as G.M.T. (Gods Master Truth).Myart's style is strictly his own; his originality overflows from his lyrics to the beats he produces. He works with everything: from R&B, Rock to Opera and even drops of rain anything that would move people. “Change doesn't come from sitting on your ass; change comes from action,†Myart said. “[My goal is] making music to move the people and that will last a lifetime. I want to change people's lives. I've had many people come to me saying my music has touched them, and this is just the beginningâ€His lyrics encompass everything around him – pulling his listeners into his world, sharing parts of himself. Most importantly, Myart's lyrics tell the story of his community and the struggles and success’ of the everyday black man. “I want to be immortalized through my words,†he said. “My son and my peoples – everything we go through on a daily basis – makes me [want to] write create dope beats, and strive for greatness.â€My Pen Still Bleeds, Myart's second solo album, will be released Winter of ‘07 his first album, This is Myart, which has sold thousands of copies worldwide was hosted by J.R. Writer of the Dipset and has gained him many accolades. Myart's raps and beats are also featured on Shadow Skill's The Undisputed, nominated for M.I.C.'s 2006 mix cd of the year award; Soprano's Dead Man Walking; Genesis Elijah's self-titled album; and various mix cd’s.My Pen Still Bleeds is a reminder of Myart's tenacity to creating great music as an artists. “Basically, I’m not falling off†he said. “I'm still here, showing you elevation; my pen still bleeds. I don't rest, there’s no break for me. Even when you think I'm gone, I'm still right here. I can't be stopped.†This album is multi-dimensional, covering the whole spectrum of life as its creator sees it: from fatherhood to betrayal from love to loss.Myart, along with the A.M.U. Shadow Skills team, will be performing in New Hampshire, Toronto and New York City this fall, promoting their new albums. Last year, the team went on tour, doing shows along the East coast. Myart has performed in over a dozen states with up and comers as well as major artists such as Red Man, Krumb Snatcher, Juelz Santana and more.The whole package is there with Myart’s unique style, hot beats, true-to-life lyrics, and stimulating shows and is a stand out in the underground hip-hop community. Unlike many of his peers, Myart does not want to go down the independent road. His goal is to leave the underground scene and attract the attention of a major recording company. “Nobody raps like me, nobody comes with styles like I do – true to the form, not trying to be like this or that,†Myart said. “They do what they do, and I do what I do.
