About Me

This profile is SO old and tired it needs to be euthanized....but I've got no time to fix it now. I'm a PhD student who's "working" on her dissertation. Heheheehee..."work." Right.I'm desperately trying to make it through life without becoming bitter. Ooo, were we live just then? ooops...That's not the way to make friends, is it? What I mean to say is...very little in this world can't be laughed at. It just depends on the kind of laughter.....I'm one of those dirty people the Bush administration has warned you about. I'm a LIBERAL! But I love Shopping so I can't completely turn my back on capitalism...Geekery is my middle name. I'm working on my PhD in Rhetoric and Composition but that doesn't mean I'll be a Bride of English. No sir. I wish I were several people so I'd have time to do all thie things I WANT to do. I miss my friends in Pennsylvania too much to mention. Cannot WAIT to get the hell out of Indiana....YIKES!

My Interests

Talking, writing, using words. I'm also a visual artist-painter and photographer. I'm very interested in color and our human obsession with it. Love to read when I have the time. My other interests are varied and many...But here we go...ROLLER COASTERS!, movies, linguistics, travel, pop-culture, making stuff, poetry, visual rhetoric, Cross-country skiing (but I suck), did I say travel?, snow-shoeing, swimming, meeting people, hiking, activities with friends, water fun, cross-cultural communication, poetry, writing, critical pedagogy, teaching, oh yeah, and travel.

I'd like to meet:

Someone to put the Fun back into "Fundamentalist". Or I'm looking for people who have good souls. A little wounded is OK (I used to be an EMT). No Jerks or Creeps, please. I'm interested in finding friends....anything else would be unexpected. I love people who use their brains and have a wicked/off-beat sense of humor (not a meanie, someone who's clever and witty). And who will tolerate me talking about critical pedagogy and rhetoric or pointing out the difference between Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian capitals.I'd also like to meet anyone who can tell me the name of AND find a copy of the film where the three wise men are actually visitors from another planet. Which some guy on here actually managed to do and now I can't find the info!! Duh.Oh... And the Man in the Yellow Hat.

Music:

God help me! I love the lads of U2. I'm thinking dirty things right now......Here's a partial list of what I like no particular order: DJ VictorS, Benny Mallett, The Cure, The Church, U2, Beth Orton, Transport, David Mead, Johnatha Brooke, The Crystal Method, KT Tunstall, Jason Herod and Brian Funk, Rufus Wainright, Nick Drake, Five for Fighting, Mogwai, Brazilian Grooves, Tori Amos, Emmylou Harris, Groove Armada, Ella Fitzgerald, Jars of Clay, Mahalia Jackson, David Gray, October Project, Dave Matthews, Plumb, Radiohead, Bill Malone, Harry Connick, Live, Chemical Brothers, Sixpence None the Richer, Lucinda Williams, Coldplay, Starsailor, Barenaked Ladies, Zuco 103, REM, Luka Bloom, old Duran Duran, They Might Be Giants, Suddenly Tammy, Toad the Wet Sprocket, PM Dawn (yes, it says PM Dawn), Innocence Mission, Massive Attack, Patty Griffin, Danny Elfman, Styx & Journey...most 80's stuff that's cheese filled especially Metal Power Balads, New Wave, College stuff from the early 90's, most things Big Band and swing, 50's rock and roll. Mozart makes my eyes roll back in my head while I grip the sheets. Oh yes...and Christmas Music. Barry Manilow at extreme volumes. Great for faux synchonized swimming using wheeled office chairs as water. Spike Jones (not the one with the "z" in his last name but the guy from the 40's).This list will never end. I'm always looking for anything new that's fun, intelligent or both.

Movies:

Manufactured Landscapes, Once. Crash, Solaris, Anchorman, Mystery Men. Kill Bill Vol. I and II, Big Fish (Anything Tim Burton does is yummy), Death to Smoochie, SuperTroopers. The Secret of NIHM. Princess Bride. The Brave Little Toaster. Other top movies...depending on genre, there are others... Empire Strikes Back and Nightmare Before Christmas. Do I even need to mention the Lord of the Rings Trilogy?

Television:

The Power of Art series (Simon Schama), A History of Britian series (Simon Schama), Elizabeth 1 series (David Starkey), Mythbusters, Shark Week, Ken Burns documentaries, documentary series in general...

Books:

Bill Bryson. I love that guy. Humor is the way to my heart. Anything by EDWARD GOREY is religious text as far as I'm concerned. I recently read Curious George Makes Pancakes. Great read. All-time great reads for me...Curious George Goes to the Hospital (H.A. and Margaret Rey), Farewell I'm Bound to Leave You (Fred Chappell), Affliction (Russel Banks), Staggerford (Jon Hassler), The Virgin Suicides (Jeffrey Eugenides), Alias Grace (Margaret Atwood)....Too many to list. You'll need to see my library.

Heroes:

Curious George, Edward Gorey

F*#K Romance, F*#K Love

I'm going to die alone. That's all there is to it. Apparently my heart is a chew toy for the vicious among us. Passively vicious I might add.

To my Friends and Lovers...

I am a terrible myspace friend. Do not expect a speedy reply--or perhaps any reply at all. It's nothing personal. I've overbooked my life and frequently drop all sorts of things that I like. And I'm i...

When's Armageddon?

No particular complaint today, just feeling crabby in general and I thought I spread the love to all of my ones of fans who read my writings. When I purge my issues onto others I feel much better. ...
