About Me

NEW MUSIC CAN BE FOUND AT DEWEY PAUL BAND MYSPACE!

***CURRENTLY BOOKING FOR THE GOAT (KEYSTONE, CO) SUMMER '08***
Who me? I'm a musician, singer/songwriter, audio engineer, concert promoter, booking manager/talent buyer, etcetera...
I perform with Dewey Paul Band, Dewey Decibel System, and various tribute shows like Dylan66.
I recently worked as a building engineer (audio/visual/technical) for the past 6 years for Kroenke Sports / Colorado Avalanche / Denver Nuggets / Colorado Crush / Colorado Mammoth at Pepsi Center in Denver, CO. Prior to that I worked as Production Manager and Sound Engineer for the Bluebird and Gothic Theaters. I was a Festival Director for the LODO Music Festival (Denver), a concert promoter and festival organizer in Gainesville, Florida, and started in the buisness working for Bill Graham Presents (San Francisco) back in the early '90's.

Dewey Paul Band is the current solo music project from Dewey Decibel System founder, Dewey Paul Moffitt. Dewey is not only highly respected among his peers as a hard working performing musician and singer-songwriter but is also recognized for his event promotion work and audio engineering in today's live concert business.
Having played the guitar since the early age of 9, Dewey's passion for songwriting and performing has never wained. He managed to release 5 CDs with Dewey Decibel System from 1995 to 2006. The project originated in Florida but relocated to Colorado in 1998.
All the while, Dewey has been very active behind the scenes as well. While living in the San Francisco bay area in the early 1990s, he set up dressing rooms at Grateful Dead shows for the legendary concert promoter Bill Graham. By the mid 1990s he was producing large-scale music festivals with friends back in Gainesville, Florida. He continued his festival work on the road sound engineering for many major country artists touring from coast to coast.
Since the late 1990's, Dewey has been performing in various music projects, production managing and sound engineering around Denver, Colorado. From his festival direction work for Denver's LODO Music and Blues & Bones Festivals to his production managing and audio engineering at the Bluebird, Ogden, Gothic, and Oriental Theaters as well as six years of audio engineering at Denver's Pepsi Center Arena, he has contributed a respectable amount of work throughout the Colorado region. In 2004, Dewey set out on tour again as audio engineer with Chicago's soulful R&B outfit, Sonia Dada.
He's regularly invited to sit in on all-star jam sessions and has participated as a guest musician on 4 annual reenactments of The Band's famous Last Waltz Concert. He also produces an annual charity event which celebrates the songs of Bob Dylan while benefiting music in Colorado public schools. More than 80 Denver area musicians have participated in that annual charity event along with legendary Jerry Garcia Band keyboardist Melvin Seals. The benefit actually spawned a touring All-Star Bob Dylan cover group, Dylan66, which Dewey founded and performs with.
Along with the obvious influences of Bob Dylan, and (the) Grateful Dead, Dewey cites Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, J.J. Cale, and Todd Rundgren as his main musical sources of inspiration. With his artistic passion being derived from living a well-traveled life on the road, he manages to blend those experiences with his expertise in the acoustic sciences resulting in his own unique style of introspective songwriting. He draws much of this inspiration from his past experiences of bohemian living, to personal relationships and the common struggles of the everyday human condition.
Dewey was born a fourth generation native of Coshocton, Ohio, but has since adopted many additional hometowns throughout his journey such as Boca Raton, Florida, Oakland, California, Gainesville, Florida, New Orleans, Louisiana, Lawrence, Kansas, Denver, and most recently Summit County, Colorado.
"On The Devil's Highway" marks the first official release for Dewey Paul Band. Eight cuts of the eleven track CD feature Dewey perfoming all the instruments himself and three tracks feature Dewey Paul Band members Tim Steele, Aylon Baru and Ben King. The content mixes up styles from Dewey's various influences of the singer-songwriter, country, pop, blues, and jam band genres.
