"JR is like Kate Bush having had a head on collision with Jeff Buckley" Now that was an amazing review comment I can tell you.....didnt even have to pay him......Well, I am originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, UK but find myself splitting my time between the UK and LA. I am a self-taught musician, my main instruments are my Voice and Piano. Even though my first band received much critical acclaim from playing the clubs of Edinburgh, I decided in one night to pack my bags and head for the allure of London. Literally 24 hours later, with all my belongings in the back of a hired transit van, I was driving south. After arriving in London, I worked with a number of great musicians including Peter Green, the legendary Guitar and front man from Fleetwood Mac.
My musical tastes influence my own writing a lot and are wide and varied. I was brought up listening to my Dads extensive Motown and Beatles collection. My taste then evolved into the likes of Kate Bush, Annie Lennox and the Blue Nile and more recently artists such as Jeff Buckley, Turin Brakes and Damien Rice. I was signed up until recently but chose to leave that deal as I was unhappy with the progress they were making with me. I went on to set up my own label at the beginning of 2007 - JR Records - and independently released my Debut Album 'Life Tastes Sweeter' in September 2007. The Album is currently available to buy in hard copy from CDBABY.COM and is also downloadable from APPLE ITUNES and various other download sites including CDBABY. Im constantly working hard to get my music heard by as many people as possible and have a U.S. and UK Radio Plugging Campaign running which started in June 07 that is taking my music all over the States and the UK and off the back of that, I have plans for a radio tour this year 2008 and plan to do various local gigs in the Cities and Towns I visit. PAST REVIEWS......."JR has a sweet but mature angelic voice. JR's vocals stand out as rare. There has been far and few female artists whose voice can actually be recognized, set aside, and valued as truly their own. Her voice sticks out most closely like Amy Lee from Evanescence......"After hearing Troubled soul- nice goth melody, soothing and transient. This song simply brings out the best of JR and if she chose to style more of her songs this way, will by far not only break out in the music industry, but break out big time replacing the likes of bands such as the "love metal" band H.I.M"......"Bleed for Love- Haunting style that digs deep into your soul as you listen right at the begining before moving into a lighter melody that keeps you listening. You almost feel yourself drifting into the story as visuals produced by the lyics drift through your mind making you feel as though you're watching a good movie or dreaming"....."Overall, JRs songs are completely terrific and have sold me on buying the first album when it comes out. I can sense with all my musical intuition that she has far more to offer and bring in hidden talents that are just starting to emerge. If I'm right, she will quickly rise above just being an overnight sensation with interesting vocals, to worldwide superstar of earned respect along the likes of Cher"......."The best advice I could give anybody is - whatever it takes - go see JR perform live. It is a life changing experience. I had the extreme fortune to catch her show at the Roxy in LA a couple months ago and I was more moved with her performance than any other artist I have seen in my life. I worked for several years at the Pacific Amphitheater in OC. and saw the likes of Rod Stewart, Sheena Easton, Crosby Stills & Nash, Sammy Haggar, Aerosmith, Johnny Cash, Lionel Ritchie, The Fixx, Jimmy Page, Emmy Lou Harris, Willie Nelson, Linda Ronstandt, to name a few. But, JR sang through my soul and none of those seasoned artists got to me that deeply. She is one of the greats and she will no doubt be headlining Stadium tours very soon. You have to experience her live to truly appreciate her music".........
