About Me

I am an independent producer, engineer, mixer, and musician. I have worked professionally in Los Angeles since 1984. I have held staff positions at Kendun Recorders, Artisan Sound Recorders, The Village Recorder, Director of Engineering at Sony Music Studios, and currently Director of Engineering at Threshold Sound + Vision.
In the last three years I mixed the show Decades Rock Live on VH1 Classic. I mixed the show in stereo and 5.1. Among the artists I have mixed are Bonnie Raitt, Heart, Alice in Chains, Elvis Costello, Fiona Apple, Billie Joe Armstrong, Lynyrd Skynyrd, 3 Doors Down, the Pretenders, and Incubus. Capitol Records released the Bonnie Raitt show on DVD and CD and you can now purchase Fiona Apple performing Elvis Costello's "I want you" on itunes. Last spring I mixed Heart's "Dreamboat Annie" Classic Album's live performance. It was recently released on DVD and CD.
Last year I mixed Gretchen Wilson, Trace Adkins, Neil McCoy, Sawyer Brown, and Gary Allan for Direct TV as well as production for Libbie Schrader, Amy Kuney, and Tim Myers. In the last twelve months I finished mixing a 12 song CD for the band "Poesis" out of Colorado. Very cool stuff. I also tracked drums for the new "Brax" record. I recorded and mixed ten songs for Tim Fagan. I mixed a new ZZ Top DVD from a recent show shot in Dallas that will be released in June 2008 as well as producing and engineering the new Kaitlyn Anderson EP and cutting a new Tim Myers song called "Brighter". Currently I'm finishing up the new Amy Kuney CD "Bird's Eye View" which will be released in August 2008
I enjoy working with independent artists and I especially like developing good artists into great artists. I love the songwriting process and especially taking a song from the germ of an idea to a finished master.
When I'm not working I enjoy playing golf, hiking, photography and all things Boston, especially their sports teams. I have many opinions, insights, and ramblings regarding music and the record making process. I hope to find the time to share some of them here.
Please contact me with any questions you may have about music, studios, or life. If I feel I can offer assistance I will address the question in my Blog.

Influences: Pretty much everything with a bent towards an inteligently constructed lyric and a memorable melody.
Sounds Like: Heart, Decades Rock Live Medley with Alice in Chains, Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood, and Rufus Wainright.
"Human Side of You" written and performed by Amy Kuney. Produced by PB and Mandi Martin. PB plays guitar on this tune with Paul Marshall on Bass, David Raven on drums, and Voyce McGinely III on percussion. Recorded at Threshold Sound, late 2005.
Elvis Costello with Billy Joe Armstrong, Fiona Apple, and Death Cab for Cutie
"Fighting David Bowie" by God's of the Radio. I had a blast mixing this track for God's of the Radio working with the supremely talented Steve Sellers and Ashley Winters.
Check out this version of Elvis Costello's "I want you" sung by Fiona Apple with backing from Elvis and his band. This is really an electric performance and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to mix it. I WANT YOU, Fiona Apple with Elvis Costello
