About Me

Born in 1960 in St. Louis, Missouri, Kevin Batchelor met his destiny at the age of thirteen. Already an avid lover of music, he stumbled upon the Miles Davis record Milestones. Captivated by the sound of the trumpet, he instantly fell under its influence and realized that this was the instrument that he would strive to perfect.
In the 1980s he gained prestige as a scholar and performer at the Berklee College of Music. A driven individual, his determined efforts have resulted in a fruitful career. Touring the globe with bands such as Steel Pulse and The Skatalites, he has effortlessly captured the attention of audiences worldwide with his masterful ensemble playing and spirited solos.
In addition to playing trumpet, Kevin is an energetic and respected vocalist, influenced by the creative genius of Bob Marley, Louis Armstrong and several others. He recently performed on Broadway as a member of The Full Monty Orchestra on Broadway.
Currently he is performing with The Skatalites while he continues to pursue his own creative endeavors as a singer/songwriter and trumpet player. He is also collaborating with producers Sidney Mills , of Living Room Records, and Noel Alphonso on the recording and release of his debut CD, BATCHELOR PARTY, now on sale at CD Baby.com and EB Reggae.com .

" I cant say enough good things about Kevin Batchelor's debut solo release Batchelor Party. The thing that sets this apart from most, if not all, modern reggae releases is that it has a true vintage feel and sound, as if recorded back in the day. This is immediately apparent from the opening track All my Tears a beautiful early reggae cut, with soft, warm lovers vocals and wonderful harmonies. Another tune which will have you truly reminiscing of the golden days is Barbary Coast Engine 54 with Mikey Jarrett Toasting old skool style over a classic riddim. With timeless lines such as Said I got a take a musical ride on my musical chariot, entertained by the man called Kevin and Mikey Jarrett and As I would tell ya, let the music groove ya with Kevin in fine form on the trumpet and Cedrick M Brookes on Sax. I cant fault a single track, but stand outs are Heavier Than Lead again red hot trumpet blowing by Kevin, Barbary Coast Dub Mix, Riding High, Things you say I Love and Beards Man Shuffle which is a classic tune played to perfection! This album is a masterpiece, beautifully crafted, carefully and lovingly constructed, it oozes class, has heart, soul and plenty of old skool feeling. They dont make em like this anymore. Or do they?? Check this, you won't be disappointed. "
