Myspace LayoutsIt may surprise you to hear that Vote Show Pony was not actually christened Vote Show Pony. She would like people to think this, but that would be taking things a little too far. Vote Show Pony was born Sorcha Hawkins and her alter ego was born one summer festival weekend. Sorcha was on her way to the said festival onboard a tour bus. She was not a part of a group, nor was she a groupie. She was part of a gang of friends, who decided travelling down on a tour bus to a muddy old festival would be much more fun than tenting. If we are on a tour bus shouldnt we have a band name or something? asked one of Sorchas pals Yes replied Sorcha We shall be called Show Pony and we shall neigh like wild horses when we say it Well it stuck and all over the festival you could hear Sorchas friends using fake Dutch accents, telling anyone who would listen they were a band called Show Pony.After arriving back in London from the festival, Sorcha decided she didnt want her friends to be part of her genius band name. They had let the faux bands mascot StJohn (the blow up Pony) fly off into the night, so they didnt deserve the honour.
