London-based, The deBretts, already heralded by Artrocker magazine as “ones to watch†the four-piece post-punk art rockers are set to tear a new arse in the indie pop scene with their infectious blend of Blondie cool, Sex Pistols urgency and Yeah Yeah Yeahs cred. their songs are a triumphant slice of post-punk magic with a dusting of pop that wraps itself around your cochlea and buzzes over and over again, while front woman Vonnie sounds like a demented hybrid of Souxie Soux and Johnny Rotten. The explosive live shows have become something of legend and it is here that The deBretts prove their worth as the most exciting new band in the UK. The deBretts are fearsome, freaky and noisy!

MANCHESTER IN THE CITY october 21st 07-THE DEBRETTS BAR REVOLUTION
Imagine a leopard locked in a cage, day by day tormented by its captor, waiting for the day when one slip sets it free. Only then will the malice and acrobatics of anger reveal itself.Well here we are at in the city Manchester, waiting for that exact moment, Miss Vonnie DeBrett is in her cage, the tension mounts and the lights dim. If you listen hard enough you can hear the clink of the chain and her footsteps rushing for the stage.
Prior to this gig I had heard the reports of this energetic performer, with her twists, pirouettes and crazy masks, makeup and punky antics. She did not disappoint at this gig, but let's leave that for a second and concentrate on the music, which in fact is bloody good. The other members of the band seem to have a secret understanding, and are very crisply practiced, sailing effortlessly through their set. 'Ram a lam a lam a ding a linger' vibrates from the speakers and makes you wonder why this hasn't been a song before, its simple, a little crazy and great! I think at some point when, you know who from Blondie and you definitely know who from The Pistols, met somewhere and secretly engaged in an experiment to create a new breed of lead singer. Here we are again at Miss Vonnie DeBrett. Vonnie leads the band and the eyes of everyone at the gig, moving, shaking, singing and doing what lead singers should. The band know she is the show, they back her and help her along, then lock her back up ready for the next gig.Watch them, listen to them and buy their music, its great live, for shopping, chilling out and for generally being cool.Listen to 'is it me' at all the w's and the dot myspace. hypodrome magazine
"Cheeky chappies The Headliners take to the stage at Revolution fresh from getting through to the next round of Mobile Act Unsigned. Playing a set full of catchy indie tunes they have the crowd jumping. Upstairs The Debretts are playing one of the best sets of the day. Their front woman is amazing to watch, sounding like a cross between Debbie Harry and Siouxie Sioux we can’t take our eyes off her."

THE MAG"Mind you, they could have been the Strokes and still had trouble matching what comes next as The DeBretts are one serious prospect. World, meet Ms Vonnie DeBrett, a vision of feather masks, high kicks and attitude. Think Tyson as ballerina, a violent, pirouetting spirit who at any moment might tear the roof off and show us the stars."
THE WRITINGS OF JACK RAWSTONE"As she kicks and screams her way through a live set, perfectly individual,
punk as hell and backed up by her, “Freaky foursome,†lead singer
of The Debretts, Vonnie DeBrett, fronts a fine example of west London post punk.
LESSONS IN LIFE!
1. WHATEVER ANYONE TELLS YOU CAN'T DO, IGNORE THEM, IF YOU BELIEVE IN IT AND WORK HARD AT IT YOU CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING, REGARDLESS OF WHERE YOU COME FROM AND WHO YOU KNOW.
2. LEARN TO SING, EVERYONE CAN DO, AND IT MAKES YOU FEEL GREAT, THE PERFECT WAY TO GET OUT EVERYTHING THAT YOU CAN'T NORMALLY.
3. KEEP YOUR FRIENDS CLOSE AND ALWAYS BE HONEST, ARROGANCE IS A HIDEOUS THING, AND YOU DON'T NEED TO DO IT OR EMBRACE IT.
4. DRESS THE WAY YOU WANT AND BE AS OUTRAGEOUS AS YOU LIKE, CLOTHES AND MAKEUP ARE EXTENSIONS OF YOU AND IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD, DO IT!
5. REMEMBER TO LAUGH ( COMING FROM THE GIRL WHO DEVELOPED A SENSE OF HUMOUR LATE IN LATE).
6.REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE JUST AS GOOD AS EVERYONE ELSE!
