Cristina Fernandez is an actress and television host of the premiere series NBA TV News & NBA TV News In Review, covering the latest happenings around the league, in-depth interviews, access from the teams and players as well as NBA Cares initiatives.
She is also a host for the popular lifestyle program, American Latino, a nationally syndicated culture and lifestyle television program ranked #1 in the Nielsen ratings that targets the 25 million U.S.-born Latinos.
Aside from broadcasting, Cristina has worked in theatre, film and commercials. Her first independent feature film, The Little Things, debuted in the Fall of ‘06 and won the Audience Award at The Red Bank International Film Festival.
Cristina has also worked alongside famed playwright Linda Nieves-Powell in her Off-Broadway production of Yo Soy Latina, an Imagen award winner for Best Live Theatrical Production. She is also the latest brand representative for Colgate Total and has appeared in their national campaign in both English and Spanish. Other credits include commercials for Apple Ipod & US Cellular, as well as numerous voice-overs and print work.
Born in Puerto Rico to Cuban parents, Cristina received her degree in International Affairs and Communications from Rollins College near Orlando, Florida. While in Florida, she worked in television and radio for media giants NBC and Clear Channel. Eventually, her passion for working in media and her love of performing inspired her make the move to New York City.
Besides working consistently in the world of media, Cristina is an adventurer and traveler at heart. She has lived in London, backpacked through Europe and bungee jumped in Switzerland. Her next dream adventure is to travel to South America and through the Amazonas. She is an avid yoga practitioner and hopes to become certified this year.
Cristina continues to hone her acting skills at the prestigious HB Studio and is extremely passionate about her work, as well as representing young Latinas in the arts. She hopes to continue her involvement in worthy causes promoting women and Latinos in film, theatre and television.
