About Me

Born to Czechoslovakian parents and after growing up in the world of classsical music, Suzka followed her heart into improvising using her gypsy jazz style to record in genres from hip-hop,jazz, world, soul, and everything in between. Thick Magazine reviews her debut CD, 'Wake-Up': 'We need more musicians like Suzka; strong, independent artists crossing borders where others are limited. She is a reflection of her instrument and a sign of what needs to happen more in the world of Hip-Hop. She is half jazz violinist, half amazing. Live, Suzka is pushing the contemporary performance even further by incorporating guitar, tabla, spoken word and live art with a strong organic feel. Tracks like 'Sit Back' with Jah from The Chronicles and Blaque Senate on 'Dirty South' will "..be the hottest shit in your system!" While instrumental tracks like 'Batcopter' will make an emcee out of the most uninspired. A broad cultural feel is powerful when combined with Hip-Hop's spirit. Suzka's music has proven that Hip-Hop can and does embody everything. Her list of influences include Alicia Keys, Jill Scott, and the (lesser known) but equally dope Laurie Anderson, and adds that energetic performers like Buju Banton inspire her as well. She has also scored for TV and film. Last summer Suzka was in Florida composing and arranging tracks, one which features the group Blaque Senate. Keep an eye on her Myspace page for info about wild events she is set to perform at in 2008. With an album, Wake-Up, currently available, the theme for the Painkiller Jane TV series under her belt, and work for Bloodsuckers (or as it is known in the US, Vampire Wars) she's on a roll. Currently she is buzzing the film;Century of November; coming soon to theatres. Look for tidbits off her new album 'The Source' as she puts it together and definately check for her on Chin Injeti's new project as she features with KNaan. Emcees and labels, local and abroad, choose your strings wisely. -Thick Magazine issue 69 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHmXdcqhvc4 Suzka the Violinist

Live-love!

I don't do tattooes, but if I did, '"live-love" would have to be the one. Instead I opted on having it engraved on a ring. Words are so easy to say but only actions let us know that anything is true. ...
