The Outside Royalty

Falling - 7" Single - Release 28th April 2008

About Me

Email address: [email protected]

The first incarnations of The Outside Royalty were formed in Pittsburgh in 2003 by singer/guitarist Adam Billing. In 2006, an article ran in Pittsburgh music magazine ‘The Front’, which bemoaned the Pittsburgh music scene and cried out to any talented bands to ‘get out’. In the centre of this article was a huge picture of The Outside Royalty. So there it was, they took that leap of faith and moved from Pittsburgh to London in the summer of 2006 with just 4 members remaining. Whilst on UK soil, The Outside Royalty have been on impressive form.

Picking up a new bassist and cellist, they’ve played with Babyshambles, toured with The Young Knives , been championed by Colin Murray with repeated spins on Radio 1, and had 2 ‘sell out’ Club NME shows at Koko. Aside from this, guest musician Rick Nelson from Polyphonic Spree has featured live with the band on numerous occasions.

About to release their signature track and debut single ‘Falling’ on Bloody Awful Poetry records (April 28th '08), produced by Phil Vinall (Radiohead , Pulp, Placebo, Elastica), it’s finally time for the The Outside Royalty to make their mark.

The Outside Royalty are: Adam Billing (Vox/Guitars), Echo Wu (Violin), Frederique LeGrande (Cello), Paul Crawford-Smith (Bass), Eizan Miyamoto (Synths), Brandon Paluzzi (Drums/Percission).

Subscribe to email list: "I fell in love with it immediately... How are these guys not signed?" From: Colin Murray, Radio 1 "Highly charged, frenetic and emotionally wrought... they have the driving mo-mo-mo-mentum of early Roxy Music." From: The Guardian "[The Outside Royalty] are on the way up." From: The Independent "The most engaging unsigned band I have ever witnessed" From: Virgin Road to V "...with such a strong and tight musical backing, it's a positively storming number, with wave after wave of crashing orchestration...You must get hold of this" From: the-mag "This is the soundtrack to an epic adventure." From: OppositionT "By the end of this year, if there is any justice at all, The Outside Royalty will be a household name." From: Glitzine "Their cover of Eleanor Rigby is the stuff of legends, amazingly epic, and brings a new dimension to the Beatles. This could be one of the covers of the year." From: There Goes The Fear "Intensely exhilarating, and majestically magical, it’s a pretty safe bet the Outside Royalty won’t be on the outside for much longer." From: Noize Makes Enemies "The Outside Royalty could go far. Very far indeed. Go and see this band if you can, you will not be disappointed." From: Rockbeatstone

Sounds Like: This is always difficult.... On the Colin Murray Show (Black Hole of Radio 1), a listener texted in: "Sounds like Pulp getting stoned with the Arcade Fire in a really really good way". One promoter described the band as Roxy Music meets Neutral Milk Hotel. Rather prefer the second one....
