And they were like "Yea.Like thousands of years ago" So I moved to LA, but there, nobody could tell if I was black or white, or wierd or just quiet, or if I was singing jazz or something else. So I was like, "Look, I’m singing what I like. I grew up singing jazz (there was quite the scene in the ancient world) and I always will, but have you heard PJ Harvey? or Joni Mitchell? Beck? Gillian Welch? Zappa? Nina Simone? How can you not let your creativity blend and marinate with other genres?
