THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!.................................................. ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................... For you Frakkers and Boingo fans: Mr. Steve Bartek produced this album with me, and much of the BG music crew is also present on the record. And if you still don’t like the CD after that...best coaster you’ll ever have. So here’s to new music in 2008! ............................................................ ............................................................ .............................................. ............................................................ ............................................................ .............................................. ............................................................ ............................................................ ....................................................My really true bio: I was born on the island of Atlantis, and then one day I had some Chamomile tea, and I fell asleep up on a cliff - then when I woke up, I was like, "what the -" and everyone was like, "yo, it sank" and I was like "really?" And they were like "Yea.Like thousands of years ago" So I moved to LA, but there, nobody could tell if I was black or white, or wierd or just quiet, or if I was singing jazz or something else. So I was like, "Look, I’m singing what I like. I grew up singing jazz (there was quite the scene in the ancient world) and I always will, but have you heard PJ Harvey? or Joni Mitchell? Beck? Gillian Welch? Zappa? Nina Simone? How can you not let your creativity blend and marinate with other genres? So I do, and here I am. you are welcome at - http://www.Alternajazz.com, and RayaYarbrough.com

Band Members: Members fluxuate, but on the album our main rhythm section is: John Kirby (keys), Takeshi Akimoto( guit) Kaveh Rastegar (bass) Nate Wood (drums)- Live, we've got: Eli Brueggamann (keys), Erik Klass/Lorca Hart (drums) and Dan Seeff (Bass)& Takeshi Akimoto (guit)...Battlestar Galactica fan?... you may know me as "the etherial voice" in many many many episodes. Or the person singing in one of many languages from far and wide....Oingo Bongo fan?...well if you've made any of the recent Halloween shows, I was the singer in the striped tights...and little else. Oh, and my upcoming album was produced by Steve Bartek. Oh yeah, now you want it.
Influences: Duke Ellington, Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, Queen, Frank Zappa, Allen Toussaint, Nina Simone,Lena Horne, Bonnie Raitt, Bjork, Peggy Lee, Beatles, PJ Harvey, Queen, Sam Phillips, Bear McCreary,Thais Carmen, Camille Yarbrough, MARTIN YARBROUGH...& Jem and the Holograms
Sounds Like: What I wanted my 2 previous album to sound like, but I hadn't the time or money. I hadn't enough time or money for this one either, actually, but I don't know if you ever feel totally done with a piece of your art. So it sounds like somebody playing guitar on the back porch. Sounds like Imogen Heap and Clifford Brown on a bender. Sounds like a sarcastic cha-cha. Sounds like walking through a mirror maze in New Orleans. Sounds like Jazz. Sounds like blues. Sounds good in your car.
