Sociological and historical issues... whats left?! Music, Reading, Football, CS, British comedy (well not ALL of it obviously), Mountain Biking, Blobbing, Jumping out of planes, and hiding. Ok in more detail; Military history; particularly 1805 - present, Social history; 1600's-1940's. After years away from drumming I'm really enjoying playing again. Love playing in Alpine Fault - great bunch of people - funny, talented, great chemistry - check us out at myspace.com/alpinefault Enjoyed meeting a shitload of bands and those involved in the local music community. Seems to be a much friendlier environment these days! - Happiness to you all!
Satan ... no Santa! Santa!!
Metal, thrash/death/ gothy-love & death (minus the tragi-self-obsession). Some Old RnB, Classical, Punk, 1920-1940's jazz etc. Depends on the mood. Very eclectic taste really from Sepultura to Schubert, Billie Holiday to Bolt Thrower, Muse to Morgoth - and just quietly, pathetically simple pretty pop (but don't tell anybody cos I'll just deny it :) Old enough to appreciate GBH, Crass, Anti-Nowhere-League, The Exploited, and the NWOBHM. Can't think of any genre I don't like!
So many local bands totally kick bottom! Off the top of my head some of the best bands I've seen are ZSPYNE, REMOTE, NEW WAY HOME, ISHTAR, UPRAW, FUELSET, AMPHERZAHN, PUPPET, BATTLE CIRCUS, to name just a few. These bands are top class and if you get the chance, go see them live! They'll blow you away!
Whatever you're taste is - go support your local bands. You'll have fun and without you, they and your nightlife will whither away and you'll be stuck with nothing but Karaoke bars and "ouunce ouunce" no brainer parties ;)
Most listened to on the iPod lately: Muse, Him, Cradle of Filth, Arch Enemy,Mazzy Star, Opeth, Charlie Parker, Dimmur Bogir, The Pixies, The Casualties, The Clash, Arch Enemy, PJ Harvey, Lacuna Coil, Johny Cash, Children of Bodom, The Misfits, Dave Brubeck, Deftones ...
Off beat, low budget, black humour, working class, strange. Blockbusters no, with a few exceptions. Old movies where guys stand awkardly and women speak far too fast. Beautiful movies that make you feel. Movies that make you think days later. Ones that I haven't worked out the whole bloody story in the first 10 minutes. And Finding Nemo.
Alt TV, SPACED!, League of Gentlemen, Little Britain, Big Train, The Office, Monkey Dust etc, Rialto, Discovery, History channel, Uktv, Live Premiership games :)
Currently reading "The Last Witchfinder" by James Morrow, and "A War In Words" by Svetlana Palmer and Sarah Wallis.
Favourites include;
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, The Stand, The Book of Disquiet, Harry Potter (yes I know shurrraaap!), Eight Little Piggies, The Mismeasure of man, Enemy at the Gates, On the Beach, The Shooting Gallery, Ulysses, too many to mention. If I had to chose one over the rest it would probably be:
Heroes? Hmm well in the broadest sense of the term I guess; Ole, Keane, Robson, Cantona, too many to name "We'll keep the red flag flying high"; Bill Anderson, ermmm - those that will stand up and defend others despite the odds; solo parents; and us the decidedly average who happily get on with the unnesessarily pretty :)
