Worwyk
plays authentic heavy metal combining melodic, semi-technical riffs with scorching solos and aggressive vocals. The band is strictly a studio project, fronted by Tom Vitacco, a musician based in the suburbs of Chicago. After playing in a couple of local Chicago metal bands, Tom found he enjoyed the recording aspect more than trying to keep a band together, so he built a small home studio to record his music. Tom writes all the music for Worwyk, and handles all the mixing, mastering and production for the band. Since the band is a studio project only, Worwyk does not play live.
In 2006, Worwyk began searching for a metal vocalist whose voice would fit the new tracks being written - someone with an aggressive, modern voice that was clean enough to be understood while rough enough to blend in perfectly with Tom's riffs. While online, Tom came across the band Dragonlips, which was also a one-man project band fronted by Mike O'Hara and based in Pennsylvania. Tom really liked the tunes and thought Mike's voice was exactly what he was looking for, so he contacted him to see if he would be interested in collaborating on the disc. Mike agreed to sing on the new disc and the collaboration turned out excellent.
The new Worwyk disc, entitled In Solitude, features eight tracks of modern metal with an old-school vibe, perfectly complemented by Mike's aggressive yet comprehensible vocals. This is true metal to the core - great vocals, heavy guitars, thundering drums, growling bass and blistering solos with just a hint of keys for ambience. Lyrics that deal with modern issues - religion, suicide and human emotion. For fans of Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Death, Slayer, Iced Earth, Kreator...or really anyone into METAL!!!
Tom has also contributed to other MySpace bands, including Koalition and Rebel81 .

In Solitude Reviews:
"If you like your metal heavy yet precise, overtly serious but not juvenile, and painstakingly crafted under the pretense that production isn't something that can be afforded to be overlooked, this riff heavy record will hit you hard."
CD Baby review
"In Solitude" is very unique...sounds real powerful...and has eight technical songs with a flammable production. The style of Worwyk's music to me is a blend of US Power and Thrash Metal, sometimes with a little bit of Prog influences. They're pretty original and not easy to compare with other bands...these guys are delivering the goods! Metal to Infinity webzine
"Musically, Worwyk plays metal with great guitar work, some heavy riffs and melodies...real metal that through the production never sounds outdated and can grab hold of you after a while." Digital-Steel.com review
"The music presented in 2006’s In Solitude is a very solid blend of traditional heavy metal and modern Teutonic thrash metal. There are tempo changes, and the songs are somewhat technical, but there is a lot of focus on memorable song writing. The riffing, while quite heavy, remains rather melodic and epic. The riffs also work to create a certain dramatic effect, and powerful atmosphere." LivingforMetal.com review
"In Solitude to me is one hell of an album! Great guitar work, great vocals, all around great vibe! If you haven't heard Worwyk, wait no longer and order their crushing new album today!" Allen Marcum of Rebel81
"This is one brilliant CD...a must buy!" Matt - CD Baby customer
"O'Hara provides a vocal performance with enough harshness as to sit amongst the riffs with clarity, yet still maintains a certain level of melodic voice amongst the distortion. Vitacco displays an aptitude for songwriting and musical performances with memorable arrangements and traditional yet still fresh heavy metal riffage. The songs sound like a mixture between '...And Justice For All' era Metallica and Iron Maiden, yet holds a bit of modern heavy metal influence as well." Ultimatemetal.com review
"Every song has its own sound with its own attitude and its own style. It’s like every song is influenced by a different band, with elements of different genres, but still creating a consistent sound. Every song has amazing melodies that go really well with the harsh but melodic vocals. I think Mike is one of the best additions in the band’s sound..." Constantinos Alexakos - Sound of Metal webzine
"If you love the old school speed metal/thrash than you'll want this. Beginning to end ass kicking. Cool riffs, great solos and choruses. A little bit technical, a little bit experimental with occasional awesome sounding synths thrown in for good measure. It's good. Buy it!" Radd Dilworth - CD Baby customer
