SYNAPSYS emerged in 2004 from the minds of Guilherme Franco and Sérgio Lérias, former guitarists of FIREWALL and MACHIAVELLIAN SOUTH, two heavy/thrash metal bands that, albeit having played a few gigs, never got to record. After nearly two years of on-off activity, due to the difficulty of getting a stable full lineup for the band, and wishing to take their musical vision further than ever before, the two guitarists teamed up early in 2006 with drummer José "Moondemon" Furtado (HEAVENLY BRIDE) and vocalist Fábio Barreira, and turned SYNAPSYS' sound from their trademark heavy/thrash metal sound to melodic death metal, a change that not only was deliberate, but also easy to accomplish. A few old MACHIAVELLIAN SOUTH and FIREWALL songs were completely reworked and seamlessly integrated SYNAPSYS' style, such as "Blinding light" and "Unrevealed enemies", which show a natural improvement in speed, melody and aggression from their previous versions. Later in 2006, bassist Rui Silva joins SYNAPSYS' ranks, bringing a new sound to the band that furthers even more its horizons. With this stable full lineup, the band creates new songs, such as "Conceptual art" and "Formless destiny", along with a refinement in style. 2007 brings SYNAPSYS to the masses. The official live presentation of the band take place in February, opening a gig for THERIOMORPHIC at Culto Club, in Cacilhas. Playing for a crowd of about 150 people, and support from AYKIEN, the band makes a strong impression on the public, with much praise for their first show. March brings a second gig for the band, opening for TWISTED PROJECT and with support from COLD AS BLOOD, again in Cacilhas. This time around the band delivers a much tighter live performance, a getting excellent reviews again. SYNAPSYS has already a few shows booked for the band in 2007. Combining lyrics based on the psychological and philosophical, influences from all styles of metal, and with elements such as speed, melody and aggression, and fuelled by a twin-guitar attack that drinks from the same cup as famous guitar duos such as Murray/Smith, Downing/Tipton and Hanneman/King, a elaborate bass line, tight drumming and a strong vocal performance, SYNAPSYS are set on playing as hard as they can on every venue possible, and recording songs hoping they'll become true metal classics.
