About Me

Hey there! I'm jon and i write a little 'zine called "you can't say no to hope...". It's basically a punk 'zine with no music and a focus on nature and the environment. It's 8 A5 pages, and it's FREE! I've been doing it since late 2003, with the first one out in that november with just 20 copies on white A6 paper. Now it's up to issue 11 on A5, the layout and content is a million times better, and i'm up to a few hundred copies! I'm trying to get away from the columns/interviews/reviews blueprint that most 'zines tend to have, so there's none of that in it! The only constant in it is the centre spread on how to make stuff, so far i've had bird boxes, insect homes, hedgehog houses, bat boxes, log torches, log piles and one more that i can't remember at the moment... If you want a copy then just drop us a line on the email, or better still write to me at 317 Bucks Hill, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, CV10 9LD, England, and i'll send one out to you! I'm always looking for folks to distro it as well... Anything folks send to me will get reviewed in the blog thing on here to keep the 'zine review free.Hot news! Issue 11 is here, a split with the incredible "Drink the sunshine", 8 pages each! Still some issue 9s left as well but 10 is all gone...

My Interests

Well, obviously 'zines! All sorts of music as long as it's interesting but especially punk and metal, Vegetarianism, nature and the environment, environmental education, 1970s Japanese cars, good films, cycling, hiking, tattoos, thunder and lightning really close, being outdoors in the dark, getting excited by fungus and plant galls, cord flares, Nuneaton Borough football club.

I'd like to meet:

you. only if you're sound though, not a twat. If you want to send a friend request, at least send me a little message saying hello....Free 'zines! i want your 'zine for my distro, i'll trade or pay cold hard cash!

Music:

Music is very important to the 'zine, but it's not in it!

Television:

destroys your mind

Heroes:

everyone who thinks about what they're doing and how that affects those around them, everyone who writes a 'zine...

My Blog

Review - Bald Cactus 26

After a mammoth wait since the last Bald cactus Andy's back with his twentieth anniversary issue! This is always a top class punk 'zine and one that i'll been reading regularly since the late 90s. It'...

Review - Barbies Dead 24

A cool little DIY punk fanzine here from Alex in deepest darkest Cornwall, and cool to find someone supporting a non-league footie team even worse than Nuneaton! Inside there's an interview with Steve...

Review - Poor But Happy 2

"A guide to low-budget living" is says here, and this is the travel issue although there's only a bit on travelling.... This is one of the smallest 'zines i've ever gotten hold of, half A6 size i thin...

Review - Alternative Free Ads 1

Bit of an odd one this, a short (10 A4 pages) 'zine that does exactly what it says. In here there's contact details for various 'zines, diy music and poetry, penfriend requests, prisoner addresses and...

Review - Chapters demo CDr

This is much more like it! Four tracks of raging noisy stuff from a bunch of lovely Coventry lads, kind of fitting in with the Cov "sound". Fast and frantic technical hardcore with a metallic edge and...

Review - Brassneck "that’s what thinking does" CDr

Three tracks of boring dadrock that does absolutely nothing for me. Sent with no letter or anything, wrong. [email protected] or www.brassneck.info or www.myspace.com/brassneckpop ...

Review - Bad Apples 2

This is a new one for me, a little A6 free 'zine made from one piece of folded A4 paper by Phil of Chokeword / Pilger / Facial Disobedience fame. I'd not read any of his previous 'zines but had heard ...

Review - Initonit 24

Yay! Another fine issue of Initonit hits my doormat after a fairly lengthy gap since i last saw a copy. Loads of Pauls trademark sweary rants on the shitty stuff that pisses him off in society are in ...

Review - Levellers "Letters from the underground" promo cdr

Once again a PR company that's never read the 'zine sends me some crappy CDr, whoo! Why do they do it? And how the bloody hell have they heard of me? This one made me chuckle because the envelope was ...

Review - Life in a Teacup 2

This is another cracking comic 'zine from Emma, done in a cool long and thin half A6 size format. I really like her simple drawing style, it really gives the strips an inbuilt humour and connectivity....
