About Me
Canvas formed many years ago playing their first gig at the 1 in 12 club supporting Strife. They were initially a straight edge band, playing along side other uk scenesters such as Unborn, Withdrawn, Area Effect etc... They toured with Earth Crisis and went to Europe playing major "edge" fests in Lleper and elsewhere with Morning again, Liar, Arch Angel, Culture, Congress etc...
Jaded with the lameness of that scene and some of the right wing, sexist, homophobic attitudes and the general bullshit that it brought, Canvas decided to expand and progress in the intrests of all those who were equally numbed by the generic and fashion orientaded wank that is "the scene". Each member grew musically and brought their personal influences to the table. This brought them into favour with LEGENDS such as Iron Monkey, Hard to Swallow, Voorhees, John Homes, Khang and people with a more positive pro-active diy attitude.... from there, interest grew from the underground and the band were invited to play amazing shows with amazing rock and metal groups.
Canvas ended one day which was quite sad. The re-union show will never happen.
Other amazing bands they got to play along side: Hard to Swallow, Converge, Botch, Iron Monkey, Imbalance, Refused, Narcosis, John Homes, Ink and Dagger, Spy Vs Spy, Drop Nose, XSarahX, Convinced, Vengence of Gia, Deadfall, Voorhees, Thirty Seconds Until Armagedon, Unsane, Month of Birthdays, Cath O'Conner Sound, Bob Tilton, Nine, Bilge Pump, Baby Harp Seal, Sleepy Time Trio.....
