Altered St8s, Plan-B and much more!

About Me

Altered St8s (and their DJ Da Fly D-Ex) have shared stages with the likes of Mos Def, Souls of Mischief, the Pharcyde, and the Xecutioners. Selling their own self-produced, independent tapes and cds allowed them to expand their fan base as well as raise the stakes for their peers. Eventually the Altered St8s phenomenon would have to spread to the outer reaches of the universe. In order for this to take place, an important alliance between the crew and F5 Records has been established. Their first 12 single "Headbangers Ball" (featuring Oktober) was released in September of 2000 (on Sondoo/Landspeed). Mix-show djs and hip-hop supporters around the country supported this first strike. The energy of that record was enough to get even the most stoic of hard rocks amped. The hook of the song sums up the content of the record: It be the head-bangers ball for those about to rock/ We lick shots for have-nots/ Are you a man or a mascot in this profession? / Take it as a curse or a blessin. The b-side of the single "Seasons" is also a favorite among fans, and is the perfect balance to the a-side. Focusing on the day-to-day interactions between the sexes, Seasons gives refreshingly non-misogynist insight into male/female relationships. Both songs appeared on the Compilation entitled Sondoo Presents For Your Information. *(released in France)* Knowing that there is much more ground to cover; lyfestile, Amene and their comrades at F5 have a stockpile of brand new ammunition aimed at a record store near you: The "See How It Sounds b/w Last Call 12" came out in 2004 and in 05 Altered St8s dropped Eye of the Storm/Bang 12" with the debut of the new crew Plan-B with "Here Today" on the "B" side. Plan-B = lyfestile and Nato Caliph. The Plan-B album "Altered Soul" will be out in 2006, the Altered St8s net only album "Warning Shots" will be out in 2006.lyfestile's solo album is in the works as you're reading this! Big shout to the impeccable Cave Precise who handles a lot of the production (lyfestile also does some production for Altered St8s and Plan-B, DJ Crucial and DJ Needles have contributed dope soundscapes too). Be on the lookout for some suprises! Thanks to everyone who's been rolling with lyfestile, Altered St8s and Plan-B so far.
