Listening to all kinds of new music (gotta love Pandora.com, iTunes and Amoeba music!), indie radio, hanging out with the boys, watching local bands. Rooting for the Red Sox. Reading books, music magazines, playing mindless PS2 games and surfing the net for hours at a time.
Musicians and music fans. Oh, and Jason Varitek. I'd say Jonathan Papelbon too, but I did that last year. :)
I'm a huge music fan who will listen to just about anything at least once. Though my ipod has a little (ok a lot) of everything, I usually find myself leaning towards listening to alt-rock on a daily basis. But then, of course there are times when nothing but Vivaldi will do. :) I support local and indie music as much as possible, and am always up for listening to something new. My favorite L.A. band was... 39 Reasons (of course) - after all, they were the "band" in the "band manager" part of my occupation. But sadly, they have gone their separate ways. Managing them took a lot of my time, so now that they are no more, I guess I need to find something else to do. :) If the circumstances are right, I just might have to take on another band - even if it's in a lesser capacity. I pretty much handled everything for 39 Reasons.... from booking (local and cross country), to taking photos (press and live), creating flyers, getting press, promotion & internet airplay, ordering and maintaining merchandise, and even handled their finances. But for now, I just see as many live shows as I can.
Local bands I like / support: Udora, Switchback, Red Hot Roxy, Silent Room, Post Reality, Kissing Violet, The Silence.
Not so local bands I like (in no particular order): 30 Seconds to Mars, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Muse, Tool, Velvet Revolver, STP, Fuel, Incubus, Live, The Cure, A Perfect Circle, Lostprophets, Enigma, Black Lab, Stroke 9, Seether, Flyleaf, Portishead, Breaking Benjamin, Echo & The Bunnymen, Shinedown, U2, Nonpoint, The Used, Trust Company, Massive Attack, 10 Years, Nirvana, Smile Empty Soul..... etc etc etc.
Wow... this is a tough one... there are so many. Ok, so here's a few. The Usual Suspects, The Shawshank Redemption, American Beauty, Finding Neverland, Life is Beautiful (the Italian version, not the one dubbed in English), English Patient, Fight Club, When Harry Met Sally, Magnolia, Monsters Inc, anything with Johnny Depp or John Cusack, Moulin Rouge, Almost Famous, Schindler's List, Pulp Fiction, The Lost Boys, A Clockwork Orange, Top Gun (though mostly for the gratuitous volleyball game scene) Say Anything, Love Actually, Being John Malkovich, America's Sweethearts (no, it was just the scene with John Cusack in leather), The Sixth Sense, Scotland PA, The Red Violin, The Fisher King, Chocolat (oh wait, that's covered in the "anything with Johnny Depp" part above), High Fidelity, Big Lebowski, Singles (love the soundtrack), Pirates of the Carribean (oops, again with the Johnny Depp thing), The Truman Show, Valley Girl (again, love the soundtrack), Edward Scissorhands (damn), Some Kind of Wonderful, The Breakfast Club, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Fever Pitch (for obvious reasons).
Ugh... just saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.... may have to revise that whole "anything with Johnny Depp" idea.
24 (I'm even friends with this year's "terrorist"!), Lost, House, Prison Break, Family Guy, The Class, The Riches, and um... American Idol :) Oh, and of COURSE.... Red Sox baseball (mlb ticket!!) and Pats football (nfl ticket) - the two best reasons to have directv!!! (Though I also listen to Red Sox games on xm radio... the reason I got it...)
Books I'm reading now (or just finished, or just getting ready to start):
Dirty Little Secrets of the Record Business (Why so much music you hear SUCKS) by Hank Bordowitz
Feeding the Monster by Seth Mnookin
Moving the Chains by Charles P. Pierce
Strong, independent people who aren't afraid to speak their mind.
