About Me

Elton and Betty White were an urban folk duo from Little Rock, Arkansas, who sang short, charming songs about love, sex, neighbors, friends, cities in their home state - especially Little Rock, and politics. Elton and Betty recorded startlingly honest and sometimes hilarious songs about whatever came to mind. This is not to say that the Whites were an improvised act. They often asked for requests and almost exclusively got requests for their own songs, though they loved doing interpretations of other artists works.
Between 1986 and 1989, Elton and Betty White recorded at least 250 songs with one live show under the production of Jerry Colburn and 20 songs under Bill Jagitsch. Even after their 1991 move to California, Elton and Betty continued to play their hits from Little Rock. No known studio or live recordings exist with the exception of performances on their Los Angeles public access show. Even these broadcasts are thought to be lost in the shuffle of the studio changing hands. Therefore, the world of Elton and Betty White is somewhat of a time capsule in Little Rock – the city they called home. In song after song, Elton calls out to Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway and Fort Smith, hometown of Rudy Ray Moore aka Dolemite. Elton and Betty were the faces of Little Rock at the time, just under then-governor Bill Clinton. For those who grew up in Little Rock in the 1980s, the Whites were like the gods of some kind of futuristic sexual revolution – or at least the wierdest, really-in-love couple in town. After performing on the boardwalk of Venice Beach for ten years, time caught up with Betty on August 20, 2003. She is greatly missed.

This page is set up for the purpose of helping our dear friend Elton White. His talent, as well as that of his adorable late wife, Betty, has not been properly available to fans... ever. That is a shame. It is for this reason that RWRR/SMoS is producing the first digital version of the full Elton and Betty catalog, 90% of which has never been released.
A documentary about Elton and Betty is also in the works. This is a labor of love. If you have photos or video of Little Rock's beloved couple, please help Elton White by joining our team. The goal: To create a film that captures the spirit of love that surrounded these kind, giving people who sought nothing but peace and truth.
Please contact this page or email [email protected] to participate in this benefit for a great man and astounding performer. Thank you.
We love you Elton and Betty!

Elton and Betty White had a Los Angeles public access show in the late 1990s. Most of these shows are thought to be lost. Luckily there are fans out there who taped them.

Access Hollywood did a piece on Elton and Betty White.

Welcome to the official Elton and Betty White myspace page, run by Donavan Suitt and Jerry Colburn. The project: remastering all original recordings by Little Rock legends Elton and Betty White. The reason that this is happening now, in 2008, is that Elton needs money. Betty passed away in 2003 and Elton has not performed since then. He is very lonely. Little Rock loves Elton and Betty. That is why we have set up this benefit for Elton. All proceeds from this project go to Elton White.
Rural War Room Records will be releasing these Strip Mall of Sound recordings that, for the most part, have never been heard by those outside the production circle. These tapes were thought lost. Lucky for everyone they resurfaced from the storage halls of the studio! It has long been a dream to discover that there is a library of songs by Elton and Betty, and to release these songs to an unsuspecting world. Especially since nobody in Los Angeles ever latched onto these two. In a world of film makers, nobody cared. Perhaps, even in the progressive 1990s, even Californians weren't prepared for the brand of folk music that the White's played. Somehow though, fate has allowed all of the elements to come together at once, making it clear to all involved that there is no choice. Colburn, Suitt and Werner will supervise these releases over the next few years.
