More About Me

I love to write songs. I've been writing for about 7 years. I love to sing, and sing I do, all day long. I even sing in my sleep, and sometimes write songs in my dreams. When you are talking to me, and I start spacing off somewhere, don't get offended, a song probably just came to me and it gets distracting, so quick, grab me napkin so I can write it down and get back to what we were talking about! I literally have written 100's of songs, some of them good for my voice and style, some of them so far away from who I am, but they still come. I can't record them fast enough! I mostly play the guitar while writing, but grab my Bass quite often to write melodies, keeps it simple. I have several guitars, but I'm very proud of my Taylor T5 which lets me switch from electric to acoustic in the push of a button and it's darn pretty. I was singing to the dog in the living room for several years, but he just wasn't digging it that much anymore, so I decided to start hanging out with friends playing little gigs around a little ol' town called Austin, Texas. (Big love to Mandy Rowden of www.girlguitaraustin.com who first provided me an avenue to get my bum off the couch and get gigs.) I made a few stabs at mixing and recording at home with y Inspire box, my MacBookPro and a sweet condenser mike, but mixing is an art form beyond my current attention span. . I've posted some at www.garageband.com/artist/karenchisholm. I'm new at mixing . . . . so listen at your own risk. I did win Track of the Day and Best Female Vocals and I just got started, so I feel good about that !
I heard about an upcoming movie looking for a song, so I decided to go to the studio to record a song that came to me while I was reading about the movie. I forever from now on will let let the professional mixing and recording studios do what they do, and let me do what I do . . . write and sing. I made my first addicting trip to AltaVista Recording Studio, in Austin Texas, to record "Henry Poole Is Here by Karen Chisholm". So, now I am totally addicted to recording in the studio, and from now on, all my recordings will be done there and I'll be getting back to that as soon as I can sell some of my furniture, or i get 280 downloads of my current song, which will help me pay for the next one. It's like playing the lottery, winning, and then spending it on the lottery again. So, help an addict out and send me a friend request, download my song, and I'll keep you posted when I get more recordings. By the way, Colin McDonald at AltaVista Recording Studio is a GENIUS - I just gotta say!!!

A little personal about me . . . I am happily married, and wouldn't be able to do what I do without the support of my husband. I have two amazing kids who make me WANT to take the high road. I've had lots of bumps along the way, but it just made me spicier! Those who know what I've been through, always say they can't believe I survived, but I'm a seriously deluded optimist and am probably too stupid to quit trying.

Okay, so thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed your stay! If you read this far, it gets me to thinking that there really is no reason why you shouldn't send me a friend request and/or you can at least do me a favor, and make my day, and buy just one song (yes, I know I only have one song for sale right now LOL). It's only 99 cents. You will be supporting Independent artists and their addictions, and making their day !!! Trust me, they won't be getting rich, but you won't be getting any poorer, so it's a good trade !! I've provided you with some good reading material for the past 10 minutes, so that's gotta be worth something !!! Do what you can . . . don't fret the rest.Peace, Karen
