Award winning songwriter, JACKIE CARLYLE was discovered early on by the late Don Costa, and hailed as a lyrical genius. Somewhere on her road she realized that, IT'S NOT THE FAME, IT'S THE FLAME, that mattered, and with that in mind, continued to put out great songs. Jackie states, "I have always felt that writing came through me; it was a gift given to me by some higher power, especially the words. If I had the choice, I don't think I would have chosen this path for myself; I feel it chose me."
Continuing she adds, "I remember when I was very young, the first time I heard the first few lines to the Paul Simon song, 'Hello Darkness, my old friend, I've come to talk with you again.' For the first time in my life I felt that I wasn't alone on this earth; that there was someone else who understood. And so I took the poetry that I hidden under my bed, and began to feel some pride in what I did. And I wrote, and wrote, all night long sometimes, because I wanted to make other people feel the way Paul Simon had made me feel...not alone."
Having traveled the world, she established a small career of her own as a singer/songwriter, and in Europe she gained chart recognition with her original songs, charting next to such greats as Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and even Patsy Cline. Jackie's song "YOU ARE MY ANCHOR" was number 2 on the charts in Holland, under Elton John's "Circle of Love". Her songs are still currently being played all over the world.
Jackie went on to write songs for many singers, but greatest joy, however, is her charitable work with organizations like The Nathan Adelson Hospice, and The American Cancer Society. When The Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas asked her to write a theme song for them describing what it was like to be a hospice volunteer, she was in Nashville at the time, and asked an old friend, Bruce Miller, if he would like to write the song with her, so they wrote, "INTO THE LIGHT." Members of The American Cancer Society also heard the song and asked if they could open their 2005 charity season with it.
Another source of pride is her song "SOULS IN THE BREEZE" about the Jewish people, which is on the Jewish Agency for Israel web site. This is where people from all over the world must go to find out how to become citizens of Israel. She was also asked to write the theme song for the now deceased Indian Yoga Master, and Leader of the Sikh Religion for the Western Hemisphere, Siri Singh Sahib, Yogi Bhajan, "THE LION WALKS WITH ME." He was considered the master teacher of Kundalini Yoga for this generation, and his followers are still teaching his techniques all over the world. In fact Gurumuk is Yoga teacher to Madonna, David Duchovny, as well as other celebrities, and has been on Access Hollywood, Elle Magazine, New York Times, and several other Television programs. Jackie performed this song for Yogi Bhajan at the 1992 Annual Peace/Prayer Day Celebration hosted by actress Marsha Mason, where dignitaries such as now Governor Bill Richardson attended, along with Yogi Masters and Gurus from India, and all over the world. He was to the Sikhs like the Dali Llama is to the Buddhists. And Jackie has kept the taped phone message he left her thanking her profusely for writing this wonderful song for his legacy.
Jackie Carlyle lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, with her husband, Clear Channel radio personality Michael Neal, and their 2 dogs, Mysty and Monkey, and two cats, Windy and Jaspar. She has just gotten a new horse. A Black and White Paint named: "Dreametta." I have renamed her "Melody." I want to call her Melody Yin Yang. And if you saw her you'd understand.
UPDATE: Keep an eye out for Sabrina Korva's CD. It's release date should be coming up soon. I'm also doing some terrific cowrites and working on my new CD. I've been adding new songs and will update you.
UPDATE!
Some of my friends have been going through some tough times, losing loved ones and such. So I'm putting some old songs up that are more of a spiritual nature. I wrote them around the time my brother passed. I hope they lend some comfort or insight or anything at all.
I'm also placing some songs I recently wrote up for you to hear. They are not for commercial use at this time. They are a work in progress.
