I'm not a kid anymore, but I still believe that those miracles do occur

About Me

After I fall out of bed each day, I spend several hours programming the music for Victoria's 100.3 The Q -- The Island's Rock. While I'm doing that, I'm listening to the ever-more-towering pile of CDs sitting on my desk, which usually reaches almost to the moon. That's good, though, because I also do a little thing called The New Music Lab on our website and on KICK FM in Winnipeg Manitoba, and if I don't feed it its weight in new music every week, it starts to get cranky. In that regard, it's a lot like me.
In between all of that, I do our daily technology show, cyberworld dot ca , which also airs on KICK in Winnipeg, KYOU in San Francisco and as a podcast on iTunes. Phew. --- Nerd Alert
And I rock the west coast on The Q Saturdays and Sundays from 6am til noon.

My Interests

I'm having an affair with my 1999 Yamaha Virago 1100 Special Edition. Particularly on sunny days. My mountain bike is therefore pissed at me. Maybe I should buy it some flowers.
If there's a good picture waiting to be taken, I'll usually try and take it.
Other than that, music pretty well rules me at this point.

I'd like to meet:

Whoever hit my car and cost me three hundred bucks for a new sideview mirror =)

Music:

If it has great production and they didn't make it sound like crap by overmastering it, I probably like it. But if you want me to pigeonhole myself, you pigeonholer, then: Beatles, Alternate Routes, Switchfoot, Subways, Army Of Anyone, End Of Fashion, Paolo Nutini, James Taylor, Desert Radio, Alfie Zappacosta, Devlins, Novaks, INXS, Lee Roy Parnell, Anthill, Butterfly Boucher, All American Rejects, Marty Stuart, Serena Ryder, Jessica Beach, Melanie Doane, Tragically Hip, Faders, Eyes Around, Dandy Warhols, Thirteen Senses, KT Tunstall, Mavericks, Will Hoge, David Gogo (especially when I feel like I'm wearing 300 pound shoes), Starsailor, YURKO, Kathleen Edwards, Pretenders, Fear Zero, Rich Hope and His Evil Doers, Brian Byrne, controller.controller, Paul Brady, Porcupine Tree, Matt Mays and El Torpedo, Rocco Deluca and The Burden, Riddlin' Kids, Sugakane, early Genesis, Phil Collins when he still hit those drums with passion, Violet Archers, Rush (particularly their DVDs), Megan Slankard, Attics, John Mellencamp, Melissa McLelland (rowrrrrr), Tom Cochrane, Jet, Midnight Oil, Mark Knopfler, ... well, I could go on forever. Oh, I guess I did ...

Movies:

Independence Day, Starship Troopers, May, Maria Full Of Grace, anything with Kate Beckinsale in it. And that video I shot of Tom Wilson playing in our studios a while ago.

Television:

The Rocky And Bullwinkle Show, The Simpsons, Seinfeld, Lost, Futurama (yep, it's coming back) and, much to some of my friends' chagrin, Ellen Degeneres. But then, I don't choose my entertainment to impress anyone but me.

Books:

Bill Bryson -- A Short History Of Nearly Everything

Heroes:

Neil Peart, for exemplifying grace under pressure.
Bruce Cockburn, for not letting fame and fortune push his humanitarianism aside.
Basil The Cat, for his unconditional love and willingness to put up with me. RIP, buddy. I miss you more than you'll ever know, you furry little devil.
