HAWAI'I PONO

UNITING ALL OF HAWAI'I TO MAKE A BIGGER IMPACT ON THE SOCIAL PROBLEMS WE ARE FACING BY PERPETUATING

About Me

Representatives of Light, Love & Life. PAISLEY, SEPH1, SLO, TEMPO VALLEY, PROMOSAPIENS & FRIENDS."A healthy plant doesn't just appear magically. The seed is planted and watered daily. Sprouts break through the soil. This nurturing encourages the plant to become a strong and healthy one. This is how we will begin to grow a healthier Hawai'i." -PAISLEY.A vision considered over a year ago; I decided to actively take steps towards manifesting this project on June 9, 2008 through a letter I sent through mass emails and bulletin posts/blogs on myspace. I was at the HIGHER GROUND MUSIC CAFE in Wahiawa watching Ernie Cruz play when I felt it was time to type up a rough draft of my ideas for this project. His performance was nothing short of warm & fuzzy aloha... so "THANK YOU- ERNIE CRUZ 4 PROVIDING THE SOUNDTRACK FOR MY WRITING MOMENT..."Along with my partners Joseph "Seph1" Rosales and Eugene "Slo" Carroll of Oahu's own ever-evolving musical representatives of TEMPO VALLEY, our mission is to find resolutions to some of our growing problems here in Hawai'i, specifically addressing the issue of poverty and then looking at some of its contributors. Ultimately, the HAWAI'I PONO VISION is to encourage all non-profit oragnizations to work on Hawai'i's social struggles TOGETHER & reiterate the concept of OHANA into all our efforts... not just once a year- but always. We are reaching out to the community in hopes that we could face the future with confidence that we may be able to resolve this issue of poverty that is too real to look at in this beautiful island paradise. We need all representatives of aloha to come forward and join the movement. Nobody is too young, nor too old to join the revolution...Homelessness is not only a result of our immediate environment, but is also a result of what is happening to us on a global scale. Whether or not we choose to accept it, the choices we make affect others, and the choices others make affect us as well. We understand that this is a life-long project that may not necessarily save all homeless people, but we would like to invite the community to take part by discussing what we can do to help our community in ways that exceed the topic of poverty. If we educate our children, nurture and teach them what it is to be pono & teach them the right ways, then we will perpetuate the ways of ALOHA, because it all begins at home.We can bring up various reasons why people may find themselves on the streets: displacement, drug dependencies, lack of care for self, and some are simply homeless by choice...Homelessness is just the tip of the iceberg and there are other social stresses that are just as pressing. We encourage all of you to pass aloha on to our future generations by not only supporting food drives, but participating in a movement that encourages A HEALTHY HAWAII; environmentally, politically, culturally, agriculturally, physically, mentally, spiritually and everything in between/under/over/side-to-side.Please make sure to check back as we build this page. Thank you for adding.*Dates for the planning of the Waimea Audobon event will be announced. Estimated time frame is December, although if we feel that the project needs more time, we will help ourselves to TIME. When we actually have the correct resources to come togther and GATHER & break bread, we will then come together. Until then, we will do so through our regular meetings @ various locations such as Ali'i Beach Park, where we can offer food and clothing, as well as familiarize ourselves with how they live by visiting where they reside to gain a better understanding.Meetings will be as often as we can. We may stream meetings live through Yahoo & the TEMPO VALLEY myspace page, so that those who are not able to come can still be a part of the discussions...THANK U~WE ARE NOT WAITING FOR THE COMMUNITY TO COME TOGETHER @ THE WAIMEA AUDOBON. WE ARE ENCOURAGING ALL MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY TO COME TOGETHER AS OFTEN AS WE CAN BECAUSE THIS IS A LIFE-LONG PROJECT & WE REALLY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS YESTERDAY.Please email us at [email protected] for more information or if you would like to receive updates on the planning of our events and discussions. Live sreaming through Yahoo & www.myspace.com/tempovalleyHeader Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com! Click here to make your own!

My Interests

Planting seeds for a Hawai'i that is growing more aloha through all that we do. Being open to what we are going to learn through this project. Gaining knowledge and making better choices for our future generations. Cultivating aloha.

I'd like to meet:

All who are eager to work as a team to perpetuate LIVING ALOHA by practicing it in all that they do. Organizations that are eager to work with other related organizations regardless of cultural, spiritual, political, educational... differences and help this problem of homelessness as well as many others such as substance abuse, domestic and pyschological abuse, scarcity of resources, etc...I DON'T want to hear "Our church already does that once a month. We already do that." This to me is practicing exclusivity and superiority over other organizations. This type of attitude does not go far. It is bashing and makes no sense when we are trying to do the work we are doing.I WOULD LOVE to see everyone getting over their issues about what others are not doing and realize that everyone is doing their best in that moment- and things CAN be better.WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER & NO ONE SHOULD BE TACKLING ALL THESE SOCIAL STRESSES ALONE... ESPECIALLY THE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. HAWAI'I PONO works TOGETHER and everyone is welcome as long as you are trying to make a positive impact through whatever it is you are doing.

Music:

The music? Our voices, singing hopes & dreams of a better HAWAI'I to other members of the community. And they are harmonizing to our call by supporting this movement. Making Aloha.

Movies:

Inviting film submissions~ Made with Aloha. Your theme, addressing the contibutors of homelessness and finding resolutions. Offering different perspectives... Giving the homeless a voice without stepping on their toes.

Television:

You mean, making phone calls, reaching out to the community to gain support by passing out our letters to share our plans with them, returning phone calls, sharing ideas about how we can weave a tighter community together and addressing this problem that is SO huge. We, the more fortunate, may sometimes assume that THEY are the problem- but THAT mentality IS the problem. Because the problem started long before. Made with Aloha. Now Streaming LIVE through Yahoo!

Books:

Reading lots of articles and doing reasearch. Made with Aloha.

Heroes:

Those who are moving forward and towards Malama, carrying the wisdom of our elders and respecting Ancient HAWAI'I for what it was, as it is Now, with a vision for the Future and the generations to come.
