About Me

Bluebonnets and blue skies aren’t the only gems found deep in the heart of Texas. Nestled in Houston’s bustling entertainment arenas, Jessica Ferguson was posed to make her mark in music at an early age. In a word, she is driven, self-motivated by obstacles and a passion for performing. What sets Jessica apart from most others is her approach to her craft; hard work is a non negotiable and “no” and “impossible” are foreign words. Perhaps Jessica earned stability and stamina as a baby. Diagnosed with glaucoma at a year old, Jessica lost sight in her left eye at two. Yet neither Jessica nor her family saw the condition as a sentence to disability but more as a barrier requiring a vault. Through her love for the stage and undergird guidance from her parents, Jessica has taken such a leap, landing firmly, apt for stardom. She began formal dance training at five years old, quickly learning to adapt her choreography to work in concert with her field of vision. Like most creative people, Jessica thrived on stage, finding the result of performance more invigorating than the process of training. Jessica became an established young dancer by middle school, with dance company invitations to boot. Still, something was lacking, and she sought out more. Musical theatre filled the void. Eighth grade proved to be a pivotal point in her life. It was then that she decided to leave traditional school for home school and enroll in voice classes. Jessica began at Tom McKinney Vocal Studios in Houston where Tom confirmed that musical theatre came naturally to Jessica. Before long she began appearing in several shows in the area, including Theatre Under the Stars and Masquerade Theatre. Although the theatre became a second home to Jessica, she continued to want more. It’s not surprising that Jessica would seek a career in pop/rock music with musical influences as vast as Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, India.Arie and the late Eva Cassidy. In dance, Jessica admires the smooth precision of JLO’s choreography. The pattern here is excellence, something Jessica works hard to hone in her craft. Yet she remains humble, calling her recent work with platinum producers Radio and I-Roc as a “learning experience”. But that’s the thing with this young performer, her learning experiences become wonderful gifts she gives to the audience. Jessica Ferguson, mark her name, it will be known.
