Apologies for the lack of updating in this section & the blog is where most of my updates will go from here on in.
But there is definately some exciting stuff happening this year wether it be ALLCITY MUSIC GROUP (A new '08 venture) or being part of MTC's family always. Greetings, I started out in the Sounds music shop in Papakura and Manukau City back when 198? In between then I've done various jobs including losing a couple years somewhere???! But I ended up back in music retail buying 2nd hand stock for Real Groovy in Auckland for 5 years and found I wasn't going anywhere with them so I then formed a small marketing promotions company end of 2002 while still working full time.
Now full time AllCity Promotions & AllCity Music Group - music label amongst the promotional side est: 2002, freelancing Street Teams, Record Pooling, Marketing Concepts, Select DJing, Event Promotions, Artist Bookings among other various duties. moments of time is spent on Myspace and Bebo for research like most but also seeking who favors what and why of certain genres including indie music - so if your on Bebo get at me on www.allcitypromotions.bebo.com - I kinda really like my facebook seperate to business altogether - 1 of my 10 crack commandments...
Assisting with local & Australian promoters with events and some music labels - I have also been involved with NZ music label Move The Crowd records (MTC) who signed artists such as Tyree, Ethical, Young Sid, Smashproof. Taking a step back from MTC and focusing on AllCity with other various companies is making me keep my head down and learning and of course keeping me very BUSY! With construction plans leaning towards AllCity's goals for the future proving to be very demanding.
But that aside - AllCity is building steadily and prodominately - it pushes and promotes music/events/products we deem 'to be sactisfactory to the soul'.
However for me - taking a step back and looking at this whole music industry and seeing where its been the last 20 years with the immense changes with digital etc etc - my company is to focus and help build more on the Grass Roots tactics and raising profiles cause you gotta start somewhere don't ya? As anyone in music business knows choosing the correct marketing stategies for your music releases and your events can be a very grey area and by all means not easy in getting your message across or your music heard above the noise in today’s world. It is a difficult task and is very time consuming and labour intensive to say the least - This is where we come in.
AllCity Promotions Ltd has taken its 15 years of combined music love, select djing and music retail experience to offer various marketing strategies to our already excisting flooded market.
By target marketing and using traditional grass roots tactics and various other methods or concepts, our ideas aim to help penetrate artists and DJ's and their music - as it is time for Australasia to move forward in this area.
I have toyed with the street marketing idea for the last few years and we all have yet to discover street teams demonstrating top form. Our main mission is to better this over the next 2 years, after all - our artists and DJ's deserve it!
As you are well aware, WOM (word of mouth) is the best promotional tool you could ever have and AllCity would love to assist you in getting your music or message to the correct people.
6 main champions have inspired me not to do things by halves and motivated me to start and continue AllCity: Kirk Harding, Robin Paratene (Base), Phil Bell (Sir-Vere), Paul Cooper, Nikki(wifey) and my son Curtis Cooper. Many thanks to you all for being you! I wish to grow those 6 to 600 one day soon. The AllCity complete package is coming soon and always in construction....
