About Me

The name 4 Corners originates from the 4 elements of the Hip Hop culture: MCing (rapping), DJing, breaking (breakdancing) and graffiti art (Graf). 4 Corners consists of two MC’s, Koma and Hepaklypz, with DJ Omega B, and was formed in 1998 with members from different groups within Hamilton, New Zealand.
Highlights of their career have included featuring on P-Money’s album “Big Things” (platinum sales) & DJ Sir-Vere’s Major Flavours 4 (3x platinum) (NZ). 4 Corners have secured international support with DJ Revolution, People Under the Stairs and Mobb Deep. They also performed live on DJ Sir-Vere’s set for the Missy Elliot concert. As of January ’05 they filmed their first music video (In the game 4 life) in Wellington at the Bodyrock (b-boy/b-girl) festival. At the start of 2006 4 Corners also made it into the Top 3 (over 70 bands entered) for the Round 3 of Coke Music Fund (coketunes) competition to open the Edgefest ’06 and then went onto win Round 4 of the Coke Music Fund in NZ.
Within the past 8 years 4 Corners have featured on various TV programmes, radio shows and print media in NZ on all different networks and from different locations throughout NZ. They have also performed at events such as the B-Net Awards, Big Day Out, NZ ITF DJ Finals, Body Rock, Respect Festival, Aotearoa Hip Hop Summits, University Orientation, Resolution, DMC DJ Comp, Silver Scroll Awards. They have toured nationwide in NZ with Nesian Mystik and Misfits of Science.
They have also supported top NZ acts such as Che Fu, Katchafire, Ladi 6, King Kapisi, P-Money, Savage, Deceptikonz, Footsouljahs, Fast Crew, Dei Hamo, Frontline & Scribe on his NZ Stand Up tour also guest appearances with Scribe at the De La Soul, Q-Bert & 50 cent concerts.
Over the years 4 Corners have built a fan based throughout NZ just on their live show.
In 2005, a partnership was formed with independent label Disruptiv Music to release 4 Corners debut album “The Foundations” in New Zealand. They released 2 singles ‘On The Downlow’ and ‘By My Side’ both of these were in the NZ Top 40. Now at the end of 2006 4 Corners have signed a deal with Grindin’ Label to distribute “The Foundations” in Australia soon to be released early 2007.
They completed their album in York Street Studios, Auckland, NZ. The album features top NZ talent such as Che Fu, Ladi 6, Tyra Hammond, Maia Rata and production from P-Money, DJ Militia, Fire and Ice, DJ Ali and more. This has been a long awaited album from this well established group in the Aotearoa Hip-hop scene.
4 Corners are looking forward to venturing into the Australian market. They have featured on Australian releases such as P-Money – Big Things (Synchronize Thoughts, The Xpedition and Big Things), Juse – Global Casino (Real Wreck), DJ Samrai Disc on Blazin 5 (Freestyles), and the number 1 compilation DJ Sir-vere’s – Major Flavours (In The Game 4 Life).
