They have four children and five grandchildren.Nelson graduated in 1981 from South Grand Prairie High School where his education and especially his drama teachers laid the foundation for his current passion and profession in theater. He often participated in plays throughout his grade school and high school days and is now skillfully utilizing his creative gifts of crafting plots and developing characters for screenplays, analyzing production costs and securing venues and directing faith-based stage projects with a message from the pulpit as a backdrop. Nelson enlisted in the Army immediately after graduating from high school in lieu of attending the Dallas Baptist College in theater.Singers, musicians, and ministers seemed prolific in Nelson’s family heritage, but his mother, Annie was his mentor as well as a songwriter, preacher and spiritual prophetess. She taught him to love everyone, but more importantly to love and fear God.Nelson’s vision is to bring the pulpit to the stage. He aims to capture “the soul of the people†as they see the Word of God manifested in real life situations. He utilizes each opportunity to illustrate how the multitudes of people before and during Christ’s walk on earth are just as bona fide as we are today with life changing decisions and issues.Written, produced and directed by Nelson, the gospel stage play, "My Love's Under New Management" debuted on February 17, 2007 at Sherman High School auditorium with a packed house. Come see this awesome play that ministers laughter, healing and wholeness and leaves rejoicing within your soul.Play Synopsis â€My Love’s Under New Managementâ€, As wonderful of a thing that love is, it’s sadly heartbreaking when true love is lost. This play depicts lost love in a few different and unpredictable ways. Through the characters of a pastor, his wife, and a selfish woman, the content of “My Love’s Under New Management†sheds light on the lives of hurting people and those who hurt them. Firstly, a pastor named David: a man of strength and faith who has left his love for Christ and embraced the infatuation of his own flesh. Gradually, his life took a downward spiral into a living nightmare and even his devoted wife, Lexia, becomes a victim of a dreadful betrayal. Lexia is soon put to the test just as many other good women are faced with. Will she put on the character of Christ, or the spirit of the scorn? Lastly, the love of self as portrayed in the character of Amanda; the “me, myself and I†woman. See, Amanda is convinced she is in full control and she thinks that her past experiences of being used, abused and abandoned remain far behind her. In summary, this play makes public the evil thoughts and whispers of scores of folk who dare not deal with the misconduct of those who pilot their souls. The underlining subject matters address what outsiders really see and believe within the church. It entails deception, corruption, and destruction and the topics portray many nonbelievers’ realities. Although humor is well placed throughout the play in a “laugh with you†manner, the teachings are very plain and precise. The conclusion compels us to rise above life’s challenges and fall deeper in love with the greatest love. It prompts us all to depart with a renewed passion for Christ.Cool Slideshows
